This is something very different in terms of my channel. I have been wanting to do a video like this for a while and I thought why not do it now. So in this video I am going to be talking about some horror movie scenes that scared unsettled or creeped me out when I was younger.

Brilliant video Keith, great idea. You're right, Halloween III is definitley a hugely underrated movie. For me...Halloween, An American Werewolf In London, The Fog, and The Thing From Another World gave me the biggest chills/frights as a youngster 👍

Great video Keith. The shining's room 237 really frightened me as a kid. Not a horror but I also found Murphy's death in Robocop very unsettling (and still do everytime i watch it now!). It's a great scene though as it really sets the scene for how brutal this version of detroit is, and why they're in dire need of a robocop! All the best mate

Demons has always been one of my favorites , I was 7 when that hit the video shops and it haunted me for years and to this day I've not seen a horror film as unique as it, theres a lot to love about Demons 2, the spiral stair case scenes, the party massacre scene, the kid hiding from the demon and as silly as it is the demon walking to the tv to come out of it gives me the heebie's, and Simon Boswell's score is for me on a par with the first.

That movie unsettles me so much and I can tell you nothing has changed over the years. Demons 2 is a fantastic sequel and of course it has its moments as you mentioned David. Actually the setting to Demons 2 lens incredibly well to a horror movie. I'm actually talking about here and now I want to watch it. Thank you as always my friend for taking the time to stop by

Keith, this was a great video, man! Excellent picks all around. Here are a few of my favorite scenes that scared the shit out of me when I was a kid: JAWS: Ben Gardner's head would be the obvious choice, but I think I'll give the edge to Charlie trying to outswim the dock. "SWIM, CHARLIE, SWIM! DON'T LOOK BACK, CHARLIE!" Halloween: Michael sitting up after being "killed". Friday the 13th: Kevin Bacon's death. Madman: The flashback to him killing his family. Texas Chainsaw: The guy getting clubbed, then Leatherface slamming that giant metal door shut. Salem's Lot: The scene with Geoffrey Lewis and his glowing eyes, hissing "Looook aaaat meeee!" Exorcist III: You know the scene. American Werewolf in London: The Tube scene. Amityville II: The very end, when the priest realizes he's been forsaken. That damn music... The Exorcist: As a kid, all the extreme parts scared me. Now, as an adult, that whole opening in Iraq is deeply unsettling.

Hey Bill. First off thank you so much for the very kind words. I wanted to do something a little different for once and it's nice that it's getting such a great reception. Now as for your picks every single one of them could have featured in this video. As a matter of fact if this video gets a good response and I get to do another one a lot of these will probably feature in it. The Exorcist 3 in particular. But it was so refreshing to see MadMan feature in this list as well. Thank you so much Bill for taking the time to put all of this down. Honestly I really appreciate the effort

Great video, Keith. I'd have to agree that the ending to Halloween III is possibly the greatest ending ever written. You get a feeling of dread sweep over you as the it goes on. I'd also add the ending to The Thing. It still leaves you guessing today, and it's another great ending.

What I love about that one scene in Halloween you mentioned is the suspense without adding any jump scares. Nowadays incompetent directors throw jum scares in scenes like that. Like David Gordon Green in the new Halloween trilogy. Nice list. Although most of these movies I watched when I was a bit older. Someone like Jason Voorhees or Pennywise scared the crap out of me when I was a child. Especially Pennywise. Legendary role by Tim Curry. The movie itself is a bit cheap in the end, but nothing beats a monstrous clown. I also remember the movie Cats eye. And specific the short story with the little monsters who crawl out of the wall and stole the girls breath while she was sleeping. I was covering the boards on the bottom of my wall with all kinds of stuff so there wasn't any space on the wall left where they could crawl out of. Great vid en stories. Always nice to hear some personal stories from your youth.

That's the one brilliant thing about putting a video like this together is for people to share some of their experiences when they were younger. I know exactly what you mean by the way when it comes to modern day Horrors. Riddled in jump scares and that's not how you do it. There really knew how to make Horrors back in the day. Tim Curry as pennywise is a fantastic shout out by the way Robert. I know it's a straight to TV movie and it looks a little on the cheap side but take nothing away from it it is still a wonderful horror movie. That story you are talking about in cat's eye is my favorite story in that movie. The little girl is Drew Barrymore by the way. But thank you so much Robert for stopping by and for sharing some of your favorites with me

Good list. My only beef with it is the best ending ever in a horror movie. It's a more recent movie, but for me that is The Mist. That ending is so good, Stephen King himself even said he wished he had that of that ending for the book. It's just brilliant.

An absolute banger of a video, Keith! This is literally one of my favourite subjects to talk about because it's so subjective. You've mentioned some superb moments there. I have to say Salem's Lot is right up there for me too. Danny Glick at the window shit me right up as a kid. Also the seen where Mike, the gravedigger, is in the rocking chair. Amazing looking vampires, yhat arevactually frightening, and those vampire eyes have never been bettered.

Honestly Steve there is a reason to why I left Salem's lot to last and it's because I think it's probably the scariest movie ever made. This is a video I have been wanting to do for a while now and I have to admit I had a blast putting it together. It's very easy to talk about something like this when you love horror as much as I do. Great video, as always Keith. I’m a huge Halloween fan too, it’s my favourite movie of all time, and like yourself I have seen it, and some of the sequels (there are a few that I avoid - 5, and the David Gordon Green films) many times. The moment in the 1978 original that always creeps me out is when you can see Michael’s face/mask in the doorway of the washroom watching Annie. It’s so subtle and easy to miss, but creepy as hell. Another film that I didn’t think would creep me out as a kid, as it was shot in black and white, is Robert Wise’s 1963 The Haunting. In particular the scene where Eleanor is telling Theo that she is holding her hand too tight, and when she looks down, there is no one holding her hand. Just chilling! And as for Salem’s Lot - well I have a story about that. I had just been released from hospital after a dog attack to my face in 1981, when we went on a family holiday to Devon directly afterwards. As my brother and I were not allowed in the pub, we were left alone outside in a shack which had a television set in it atop a fridge, and a broken down games machine. The small room was covered in cobwebs, with huge spiders and crane flies drifting around. Outside the room it was pitch black, and the absolutely perfect place to watch Salem’s Lot, as you wondered if any of the vampires might be lurking outside. It was moments like this that encouraged me to write and direct my own short horror films on my other channel Mancini Pictures Ltd. I look forward to your next video. All the best - Gary Mancini

Hey Gary. I am one of those weird dedicated Halloween fans. Like for instance every October I have to watch every single Halloween movie and yes I am including those horrible Rob Zombie movies. There is some very bad sequels but I can't help myself. I am embarrassed to say that I haven't seen the original haunting. I have seen the remake as a matter of fact I have the 4K coming this week. I really need to remedy that very soon. Now that is what I like to call the perfect environment to sit down and watch Salem's Lot. I'm not quite sure if I would be able to enjoy the movie but it definitely sets a mood. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and check out my video and of course for sharing that story and some of your favorites. I really appreciate it

Hey Keith, absolutely loved this video, brought back some great memories. The film that scared me the most takes me right back to when I was about six or seven years old. My old man was going to watch the original version of The Fly, and asked me if I wanted to stay up and watch it with him. Of course I said yes, how could I pass up such an opportunity? Unfortunately, 30 minutes into the film, my dad proceeded to fall asleep and leave me, absolutely terrified and frozen to the spot, to watch the film alone. To this day that “help me” at the end of the film haunts me! Nothing else even comes close.

Wow that is very kind of you to say Dave and I have to admit it's gotten such a great response in the comment section and I am definitely going to come back and do a follow-up to this video. You are not the first person to mention the fly in the comment section and that ending was absolutely terrifying back in the day. I have to admit Dave my father done the exact same thing with myself only for the movie was the Exorcist. Wrap your head around that one. I think I was rocking myself in a corner for almost a week trying to recover from that experience 😂😂

When I was like 8 I watched bits of Alien (1979) on TV and it scared the hell out of me. Dallas crawling in the tunnels, those moments with Ripley running down the corridors with the sirens blasting aloud... It took me a decade to face the movie again on DVD.

What a list of absolute bangers you picked in general Keith and i hope on the off chance some people bought some if they somehow havent heard of them. I have to agree that theatre of the mind works so well to let you imagine the carnage and brutality of a scene that was off camera, they actually did that quite well in Halloween 2018 at the petrol station. From the original Halloween i have to mention when Michael is standing quite close to Annie at the back door when shes on the phone and walks to the side as she turns around was very creepy. I wasnt scared of alot of scenes that i supposed to when i was little such as nightmare on elm street ceiling scene, we were 7 or 8 and laughing at it thinking it was cool, and same in alot of other horrors. I had to see them as an adult and understand why they were supposed to scary. Great picks Keith, and i knew John Carpenter would feature of course. Just an edit here, but thinking back of a scene that creeped me a bit as a kid was actually tim curry pennywise at the clothesline when he takes the child, definitely that over the sewer drain with georgie, it was all about his face stuck in my head.

There's a few scenes from that movie I could mention. If I have a chance to do a follow-up video to this one that probably will feature in it. Certainly agree with you about The Thing and The Fog. Salems Lot is crying out for a remastered 4k release with decent extras, wish they'd hurry it up. One of the scariest for me is the original 1989 Woman in Black, had to sleep with lights full on, scared the absolute crap out of me and still does. Way better than the daniel radcliffe film which relied on cliche'd jump scares. I prefer slow build up of atmosphere and tension which the 89 version had in abundance. I was lucky to get the limited edtion release on Bluray by Network in 2018.

To be honest I didn't even realize that the Daniel Radcliffe version was a remake. Ripley's nightmare in ALIENS, I saw this when I was young. It was my first time seeing any Alien movie, so I had no idea what was going on. I was so scared I couldn't watch the rest of the movie, I quit after that scene. The Fog is a masterpiece from start to finish. Do you have the Shout Factory release in your collection? I highly recommend getting this for the sake of the Dolby Atmos track! Also the remastered mono track is quite impressive and the transfer even slightly better than the StudioCanal one. I used to be at Point Reyes lighthouse many years ago when I visited my relatives in Sacramento. Such a spectacular view from up there and you wouldn't expect how high this spot is located when you see it in the movie.

Halloween is a great pick, Keith. So many great scenes from that movie. You know how much I love the third installment of Halloween, it's my favorite out of the series. Tom Atkins will always be the man. Yes, Demons deserves to be on the list, it's such an atmospheric horror. Listening to you talk about The Thing, makes me want to watch it tonight. I remember the dog scene from Bodysnatchers that was a bit freaky. I only watched it a few months ago. So happy you have The Fog in there. The whole movie oozies atmosphere and a great cast. I just knew Salem's Lot was going to be on the list. I knew you wouldn't let me down Keith. That story with your brother had me in bits. I wish I had been there to see that. Out of all the horror movies ever made Salem's lot was the only one to scare the shit out of me. The window scene as you said and Mike Ryerson sitting in the rocking chair. Talking about some of my favorite horror movies. It doesn't require any kind of thinking. Salem's Lot was always going to be the last movie I talked about in this video. Why because I think it's probably the scariest movie ever made. There's at least five scenes in that movie that could have made this list but it is the kid scratching at the window that scared the life out of me when I was younger. Totally agree mate the scene with him behind the hedge is a classic. John carpenter made some amazing films and some of my favs. Wonder what John carpenter would have done with a jaws movie. Halloween 2 is on par with the original. Halloween 3 is an underrated classic. John carpenter wanted all the Halloween films to be different after part 2 but people expected a new movie with Myers so it didn’t do well. Some years since I seen demons do can’t remember it mate. I’m writing this as I’m watching lol. Alien is a classic but for me it’s not the best in the series as I prefer the universally hated alien 3 as it kicks you in the nuts with the death of hicks and newt and the dread continues throughout the film. The thing is my all time fav sci fi film of all time and the prequel is a guilty pleasure. The guy frozen with his throat and wrists cuts gets me. Invasion of the body snatchers is awesome and the ending is a classic. The fog is another classic and I love the ending scene with the ghost crew standing in front of the priest in the church.
