@jamesfranklandguitar
@jamesfranklandguitar 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, very kind words. You can definitely palm mute on them, it may feel a little different if you're used to 6 saddles but not hugely so. I tend to play these style bridges more but it only takes a minute or so of playing to adjust when I'm playing a block saddle bridge like a hipshot or Wilkinson if that helps. I definitely try one out if you can to know for certain ahead of buying

Beautiful sounds! I'm considering this guitar but I have a bad habit of overloading my mind reading reviews. A few reoccurring issues I've read about this guitar are: 1) A disparity in hotness between the neck and bridge pickups, enough to be problematic. The bridge pickup has also been called very weak. 2) Issues with the pots where all of the change is within the first small turn of the knobs and the rest of the turn does nothing. In your experience with this guitar have you encountered either of these problems? Thank you!
@jamesfranklandguitar
@jamesfranklandguitar 2 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you! I haven't noticed any major difference in the pickups, if anything I'd say the bridge is quite an aggressive tele bridge sound. I can't recall if I've raised the pickup as that will certainly give a hotter sound. Pickup height can play quite a big part in how well a set of pickups balance and is an easy fix if it's off. I also haven't found any issue with the pots, I generally play wide open although the amp/ modeller can also come in to play with responsiveness of the volume pot. I think where a lot of people lean towards valve amps is for precisely that, the responsiveness to dynamics and control settings. In my experience I have noticed issues where different guitars don't do anything after the first increments of the pot when playing through cheaper modellers or solid state amps, but on the kemper/axe fx units I think the responsiveness is pretty much dialled in nowadays. Hope this helps, any more questions let me know!

@@jamesfranklandguitaryou just made go and see the other Tele videos! and actually I do have some questions :) from all that you tried which one you like the most? what about the fastback? and how do you compare the ml3 traditional to the schecter pt special, which one you like better and why? probably you could fit all in one video entitled the Tele quest...
@jamesfranklandguitar
@jamesfranklandguitar Жыл бұрын
@@dariocintra3183 Thanks for checking out the other videos man. Of all the Tele's I own/have owned the 1989 MIJ Fender Esquire is my favourite. It's basically a reissue of a 1954 Esquire, very vintage in specs so not the easiest to play but it's the angriest sounding guitar I own. Was is the ML3 Traditional Standard or Pro you were looking at against the Schecter PT? The ML3 Standard and PT Special felt like they had almost identical body shapes, the Schecter has more of a matte finish versus the gloss on the Chapman. Where they differ most is the neck dimensions I would say, the Chapman has a rounder radius, I think 240mm/9.5" which is very similar to Fender. The Schecter is rounder at 14", neither radius is 'better', it's all a preference thing, that old Esquire I mentioned is 7.25" which is pretty curved. In terms of the neck thickness they both felt pretty similar, the Chapman has more of a Satin finish on the neck whereas the Schecter has a matte finish on there. The Chapman also has rounded edges while the Schecter has biding on the neck so is much less rounded, again more of a preference thing there than one being better/worse. I've not had both at the same time to compare pickups directly, the main difference I would say is in the feel of the neck and what you prefer. They also have different bridges, the Schecter with a traditional 3 saddle tele bridge and the Chapman with a 6 saddle style, so they're both kind of a vintage/modern hybrid but in different areas. Aesthetically I think I prefer the Schecter, neck-wise it's the Chapman, tonally hard to say, probably on an equal ground. It really is down to subjective areas though, they're both 22 fret Tele style guitars with some modern twists, same body size and price bracket (near enough), so if you can try both I would recommend it. In terms of build quality on the example of each I've played I'd say they're on even ground. I really like the fastback as it's such a utilitarian guitar and one I've used in loads of recordings. I swapped the pickups out fairly early to the Seymour Duncan Vintage Psyclone which did mean losing the split option but I love those pickups. I think I have one video from when I first got it with the original set in...I'll see if I can find it and tag you incase you wanted to hear the stock ones. It's a cool guitar but doesn't sound like a tele, having a different pickup configuration. Sorry for the essay there, as you say probably scope for a whole video there! There is another I have my eye on at the minute....the quest continues!
@dariocintra3183
@dariocintra3183 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesfranklandguitar thanks for the essay! well I guess all things considered I would go for the chapman ml3 traditional. the six saddle bridge and the rounded edges would be decisive despite the glossed neck. there is a model with ebony fretboard, that would be the one oh and not to mention the price difference. I thought about the fender player plus, it has a the locking tuners, noiseless pups, push pull for parallel series options but the price difference is considerable and would and I can upgrade it gradually. the contours are definitely a major factor for me and if don't actually need the logo on the headstock then it's a no brainer. now I just need to wait for your demo vid of the one you are keeping an eye on...

It depends what I'm going for, I've owned and used both Schecter and Fender Teles in live and studio situations. If I'm after something more modern feeling I'd probably go for this as it has the flatter radius and contouring on the body which can make playing stood up a bit easier, but if it's something more traditional I tend to go Fender. Fender have such a range of specs and feels usually if I'm picking up a Fender instrument I go more for the vintage specs & designs, smaller frets, rounder radius etc. Hope that helps, any other questions let me know 🎸
