I have another question as well. Imagine there is a procedure in the company that they don't extend the duration of an activity on critical path if it is delayed to capture all the delays in a better way. They just add another activity and call it " EWN". So, let's imagine, activity A which is on critical path and has a duration of 15 days is delayed for 5 days and we want to add EWN with a duration of 5 days. Activity A has " activity b, activity c, activity d" as its successor. What would be the " Predecessor(s) and Successor(s)" of activity EWN

Assuming activity A is the activity that was delayed, make Activity A the predecessor and B the successor to EWN.

Would a notification period use a start to finish? As long as the notification period completes before the activity. Sometimes there isn't a good activity to link a F to S to, say a 45 cal day notification. I've used lags but when the predecessor starts and the activity that requires the notification is delayed, the notification is held by the lag.

Another thing which pops into my mind is the time that you don't have to enter the costs manually and you are given by the estimate team. So we are at the stage that we have to rebaseline the project, I have been told that at this stage we need to match the data from budgeted total cost and at completion total cost by equalizing the numbers from budgeted units and actual cost. In that case the CBI is going to be 1. Why am I doing this? I have no idea ! What happens to SPI? I have no idea !! I am mentioning my concern, so as if you think they are important, make a video of that.

Use a global change to accomplish this. For instance, you can say where budgeted cost is not equal to $0, THEN, set budgeted units equal to budgeted cost. Or, set remaining cost = budgeted cost - actual cost. Lots of options to accomplish what you are looking to do, but I would most likely lean on coming up with a global change to accomplish it.

What if we wanted to start and finish activies 1 and 2 at the same time( should we use LOE for activies?) I think it would have been a good idea to talk about open-end , because when you were talking about SS relationship, activies didn't have a Successor. What would you do in that case. Many just say link it to the final activity of the project, so what if it is in the very first WBS of the project? Doesn't it give an unrealistic float to that? I am mentioning that because I had/have problem conceptualizing them.

Agreed! I actually already talked about loose start and finish dates here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXycgIObZ6ZrqKM If you want to start two activities at the same time, I typically use both a start-start and finish-finish relationships between the two.
