Hey Mate, thanks for the Video. just wondering if you have come across a way to import the expense distribution spread for a task (ie values for each Day/Week/Month) from excel. (Bucket planning using excel? The available Curve is not suitable for Cashflow (Topdown distribution). Note : There are fields in the P6 Database table for importing the value to specific time period. since I lack the programming skills, just asking around:)

I don't think there is a way to import the cost into a specific period. It's an interesting question. I'm curious as to why you want to have the cost projection different from when the activity is occurring. But, the resource assignment has its own unique dates that are separate from the activity, so you could probably change the dates of the resource assignment to match when you want that activity to spend. Also, you can change the "Curve" on the resource assignment so it distributes the money differently depending on the curve you choose.

What I meant is 'resource assignment spread for long duration tasks. They are driven from early dates of the task and spread is either Uniform spread or from resource Curve (front loaded, back loaded etc. In addition, by doing the Bucket planning in P6 you can alter the spread manually for a Month/Week/day in the resource assignment window. Instead of manually editing the resource spread, I want to use the excel and load the spread to P6. The use case for this feature is to produce a Leveled Resource profile or for Cash flow/budget projection in P6. Using API's this can be achieved. I found that In the Latest p6 V21, Oracle has introduced new field to upload this particular feature. " LoadWithLiveSpreadActivityOrAssignment" search the manual for more info... @@Planner007 Ahh, I see. I do not know of a way to accomplish that in P6. Other than creating separate activities based on the period you want to bill. I'll think more on it and let you know if anything comes to mind.

Struggling here. Why would I not have a Project to select to import back into after manipulating my Expenses Excel? Mind you I do not have Admin rights to a shared system and I'm trying to incorporate Expenses rather than Resources to a cost loaded schedule. I also can't search for the project or add it. Am I just locked out, curtesy of my IT department?

Correct, unfortunately. I've run into that myself in the past and it's because you don't have admin privileges or you at least restricted in some capacity where you can't do imports.
