Schiit Bifrost 2/64 Review - A Worthy Upgrade

I had an OG Bifrost 2 way back when, and thought it was a pretty competent amp. I then upgraded to a Soekris 2541, and then downgraded to the Cayin RU6. Well, here we are back again in the Schiit camp with the new BF2/64. It’s a really good dac.

I had the same distortion, it was my PCs pci-e power saving feature in the BIOS. Turned that off and proplem solved.

Nice one. I tried the BF2/64 right when it came out and found it a little harsher than the BF2 and returned it. I've since moved on from BF2 and now my main DAC is the Gustard A26 which I think will be my my end game DAC.

Have you ever tried the chord mojo 2 or any other chord dac? Just got the mojo 2 and I’m enjoying the lossless eq and the sound quality. Using it as a desktop dac and in the office. I wonder how the lower price chord dacs would stack up against the A26

@@mtnmankeith9069 I went on a bit of a Chord DAC frenzy in a moment of insanity and in the end came to the conclusion that the higher end Chord DACs are overpriced. I tried the Chord Qutest and Returned it... and lost my mind for a minute and bought a Hugo TT2 & M-Scaler and liked it but in the end it was just too analytical for me and again was way overpriced imo. I was lucky to sell them and not take a beating on the sale. I'm a firm believer in diminishing returns now in this headphone hobby. I haven't heard the Chord Mojo or Mojo 2 unfortunately ... but the Mojo 2 seems like the best value of the Chord DACS if funds are an issue. I've heard nothing but positive things about the Mojo 2. The thing with TOTL Chord stuff is you are paying a huge premium on most of their stuff because of the the Research h and Development and in house parts they make. As far as the Gustard DACS go.. I've had the R26 (R2R) and now have the A26 (Delta Sigma) and they punch way higher than their price tags. But this stuff is all subjective and you'll never really know if you'll like something until you try it yourself. But to answer your question the A26 competes with DACS in the $3K+ range according to reviewers like Soundnews. Not sure if the Mojo 2 can compete with DACS 2X it's price

No one on you tube shows what the nitfrost is hooked up to for audio music and how like what cable is used . I have bitfrost 2 connected to jotuneim 2 amp and my android phone connected to bitfrost 2 via usb and bitfrost is not recieving the audio from my phone and i cycle thru all but nothing

There's a firmware update that addresses distortion at certain sampling rates through the USB interface. I had the same problem with I first got my BF2/64 and the new firmware fixed it
