Your reaction to what your mom said says it all 🤣🤣🤣 I remember that during the workshops that we were offered to do after hospitalization, many complained about their parents and loved ones, of not understanding them, and I said to myself, so much the better that they don't understand us, if we want to get out of it, it's up to us to continue to understand them :) this disease tries by all means to cut us off from others..

🤣🤣 But you are 100%. Setting the mind to understanding those who are outside of the mind that's given to psychosis is a good way to practice staying out of developing a psychotic mind. If we get caught up in ourselves and start feeling sorry for ourselves, then it's as you say, it cuts us off from others, and we isolate because, "no one understands me." Drawing closer to our loved ones is a great antidote to isolation, and it's potentially devastating effects.

That's a crazy story bro I couldn't help but laugh😂😂 One time I was sitting in my shed and I was listening to some music and in the song he mentioned the roof, so I had it in my head that if climbed through the roof of the shed I would obtain superpowers. So I started to try and break through the roof... it was solid so I gave up. Sat back down and the voices said 'boooo' so I was like fuck you guys and I put all my strength into climbing through to roof and yeah I managed to break through... Ofcourse nothing happened, and my family were very concerned for my well being.. I had to fix the shed the next day and just felt like a total fool..

🤣🤣😂 they make fools of us, don't they?! I appreciate you sharing that story. Some of this stuff is funny when we look back on them, others, not so much. The most important thing is getting beyond these experiences. Then we can look back and laugh without having to turn back to a future where these are the realities waiting around the corners for us, you know? But glad I was able to put a smile on your face. You did that for me too so it's all good 😎

Ok this was hilarious - thanks for sharing. I really needed some laughs after a night full of tears. Similar to a question below about jobs that would be suitable for someone with the condition, I totally agree with you - I would never want to limit anyone. All things are possible. At the same time, how do you deal with an ambitious loved one who wants to move overseas but is still under persecutory delusions and paranoia without any insight yet?

Glad you enjoyed it. Thought I'd try something different with this one. As for your loved one, it's a tough sell. When I lacked insight, nothing anybody said could reach me. The only thing I can think of is to find a reason why they should delay their move. It's got to be something unrelated to schizophrenia or whatever it is they're struggling against. Maybe it'd be wise to save up more money first, cost of living where they're going, stability of work, the economy, or safety. It has to be something that would make them choose to delay or cancel, but it can't be related to the illness. But if they're trying to get away from family and/or friends because of the perception given by the illness, then that makes it even more difficult because they'd suspect you're trying to hold them there and could cause fear making then more desperate to leave. This illness is tough to deal with because it fortifies itself against outside influences, or much of it. There's no guaranteed way because everyone is so different in what they perceive. If you don't understand the nature of the perception, then it's difficult to say how much they trust you or what they think about you: friend or foe. How they view you would give you insight into how to approach them with the stalling tactics. But once you convince them to wait, it's a race for them to get insight before they're set to leave again. Yeah, sorry, there's just no sure way when there's no insight. You just have to wait for your opportunities to plant your seeds of ideas on what's their course of action, and hope they bite.

Thanks for sharing your experience and the reality of the darkness of living with schizophrenia. You give hope to a lot of people that they too can escape into the light.

do you think it's possible for schizophrenics to learn complex subjects and understand it like programming, digital marketing, graphic design, ...etc and what is the best jobs for schizophrenics

Personally, I never want to draw boundaries for someone. This was done for me, and I rejected that. I think a person's ceiling is as high or as low as they set for themselves. And then there's the mindset that sees no ceiling at all, but only an open sky filled with potentials. I say anything is possible even for someone diagnosed with schizophrenia. The challenge would be to rule over the symptoms. I don't know what jobs would be good for anyone because this is a individual thing, no? Everyone has different interests, and interest in the field certainly helps how much time you put in thus affect how much growth you get out. If I were to say, this or that job would be good for a person with schizophrenia, I'd be no better than the doctor who said I'd only be fit enough to bag groceries and could never hope to live on my own. He set boundaries and limitations for me, but, I understood enough to know better than to listen to that. This was something I had to determine within my own heart because it was a path I would have to walk myself, and prove for myself. Someone else hearing that might've heard it and lost hope, and that would've been their reality. The mind that wills will find a way. That's what I say.
