Hi, I been watching your vids. I been away from drums for 25yrs, doing roadie/photography for bands etc...I got 2 Djembes in different sizes, I tried a La Duende elite for gospel music, but not enough snare, but loads of bass with a cajonport. I sold it for a La Rosa custom which was a worse move as that was more quieter, no bass and a deader sound for flamenco fast rhythms. I have tried a cajon with heck stick as hi hats, and I use a Meinl Bassport with Tama pedal for my bass sound. So, to replicate a 3pce drum kit, what do you recommend? I want loads of top end snap for gospel/reggae and ballads. I got on order a Meinl Jumbo bass cajon from Germany, also I like the Pearl fibreglass bass cajon. I have tried a hi hat stand with Sabian AAX fusion hats with Pro Mark brushes on a Djembe also which sounds quite expressive....... Also looked at the tambourine for the hi hats LP193, the Toca 6in tambourine snare, and the LP cajon hats I see you got on Ebay UK, Meinl block snare MCS-1, and Roland EC-10. Which way do I go? Maybe two different setups? And will I get the best snap out of the Meinl and Pearl for top end sound playing on the corner of these cajons in a 3pce setup with hi hats either heck stick or LP 193? All the best, from South Wales UK.
