Henry has a commercial product that don't even fasten down. They use it in malls and car dealerships. Roll it out spread some thin set and start tiling. They drive cars over it when its cured. Works great and if you want to change the tile down the road the subfloor is still intact.

I agree, go old school installation save yourself a huge headache. It’s just a garbage like other peel and stick. But, nice advertisement for the company with Holmes trying to make it like oh it’s ok,I’ll try it.

For large builders the one who usually makes the decision about these hidden products unfortunately is the sub. If that person chooses not to spend the extra money on these (in my opinion) great products, you get what you get any may never know how long it will last. I always hear things like "old school" & "old fashioned way" or "always done it this way" My thinking is when tech comes along that gives a better outcome (waterproof for more years and long after the sub has gone) Its the way to go. Of course it significantly drives the cost up and the sub is usually paid the same so the process is rigged against it. Just my thoughts coming from the builder side, also having years of install experience.

Stick to transition strips, all the other materials are set to fail, we do it old school, quicker, most accurate and never in over 40 years installing every type of tile have had any issues with our installations just more work than we can handle and as for Holmes , like him or not it’s a TV show, not a real contractor .
