Did Schnebly Hill many times in my youth with a bone stock 1978 2WD Ford F-100. The biggest worry on this road is ground clearance.

@@frasiec ya a wrangler sport which i had one of for 12 years would be fine..... the issue is the wheelbase on the gladator significantly longer so spots like 6:47 result in high centering. ---- That said my JT is more for off roading and camping and not so much rock crawling.

thanks for sharing the video. Did you have to disconnect sway bars?

Absolutely not. In fact, we just ran it yesterday and never got out of 2WD.

I made the mistake of going down this “trail”in a 28’ Ryder box truck in a moonless night. I was hauling my art work to a gallery in Sedona. Fortunately I made, and I must be a good packer because none of my paintings were damaged. Appearance whose the truck was fine, the transmission is probably a different story.

If you just want to experience the trail, which one would you recommend this one are broken arrow? From a tourist perspective? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Schnebly Hill is an easier scenic trail Broken Arrow is a harder technical trail

@TrailTraveler3 жыл бұрын
I usually drop to 14-16, but 18 is usually pretty good and you normally don’t need to go lower unless you are rock crawling

I'm not airing down past 25psi. Would that make it worse? I run 37s with a 3" lift on a manual JKU. I don't mind a little bit of bumpiness, but is it super crazy bumpy? Hahaha
@TrailTraveler2 жыл бұрын
Anything is better than highway pressure, but why only 25? We just completed an 8 day, 1,000 mile trip and ran between 10-15 the entire time. Once you get into those numbers, the difference is quite noticeable.
@MicDropBBQ2 жыл бұрын
@@TrailTraveler I have Escalade air struts on the rear of my Jeep, so it rides nicely on air when I hit the switch for a few psi. The tires are ok being slightly down instead of all the way down, on my Jeep. The air ride gives a lot of cushion for rocks and big dips on the trail.

Why this is a Jeep Badge of Honor trail is beyond me. It is very scenic for sure but after driving it from I-17 down to Sedona a couple of years ago in our Grand Cherokee to see the scenery, we went back last year in our JLU last Spring and, after about 2 miles of being beat up by the nasty road (aired down and sway bar disconnected), we turned around and went to the nearest watering hole!
@TrailTraveler Жыл бұрын
BoH trails are typically either scenic or technical, Schnebly is certainly scenic, but the only thing technical about it is what a rough road it is. The only way to do this trail is to air down a lot to help make it feel a bit smoother.
@patd4u23 ай бұрын
I have been down Schnebly Hill Road many times, but never in a jeep. I couldn't imagine how rough it must be. I do it in my Polaris razor pro XP, has something like 22 inches of travel. The quicker you go the smoother it is, I've made it from the Vista down to the beginning in 18 minutes.
