For STEM it is really not dependent on board. My daughter studied in CBSE and got admitted to Caltech with full ride financial aid for Class of 2027. So board doesn't matter as long as you do a lot of extra study, competition, research projects by yourself. Instead of paying heavy IB IGCsE fees ,better utilize those funds to build profile. She did not appear for AP exams as well, she gave SAT and IELTS.

Firstly, super congrats and massive kudos on cracking Caltech, would love to interview your daughter on our channel. It is not either or situation. Every year, students from Indian boards also get admissions abroad. But the pros mentioned in the video remain valid for international boards. Studying in CBSE and applying abroad is double work - you can do it if you want but if you can afford IB, it makes your task easier.

Agreed each child needs to carve her/his own path. As long as you do not make last minute decision to apply abroad and are well prepared it will all be a hassle free experience. Let me check with my daughter about the interview, most likely during the Spring break she can I will confirm

My child is in class 6 right now in ICSE board, but I want him to get ready ever for abroad also.. IB 's curriculum seems much better as it'll help kids to be confident, skilled and future ready.. But changing board is not possible right now. So I want to know how can we help these kids to reach that level while staying in the present board..

For students with creative leanings I say no. Drama, Art and Music are so bound up in writing exercises it weighs students down. A-level exhibitions are far better than IB exhibitions as a general rule. IB students have to do their EE, and a Comparative study and extensive writing in their PP. Seeing as the EE will probably be about Visual arts anyway, it seems a bit of an overlap.

@@talratna198Visual art is a vocational skill at the making level. If you wish to study fine art history, or become a university lecturer, teacher or publisher, then yes, IB VA is excellent. Henry Moore, one of the greatest sculptors of the 20th century didn't write about his art. Most artists spend more time making than writing. The good ones anyway.

students can do the extended essay, TOK and CAS on art themes, not do IB visual art, but privately build a very good portfoilio in their own time. It's more focused ( C.S is not really needed ) , and they can get into any unversity they wish.

Thats point blank. Both my kids did CBSE till 10th and switched to IB for 11/12th Grade. Writing style, Level of English, amount of effort is much higher for IB, you need a lot of research skills. If you want to keep kids in India better to stay in CBSE board. I am not sure how good IB support in India. My kids study in Singapore hence support is good. My kid did Econ project using equations for Electrons movement in the orbit. It is stressful. For JEE exams even CBSE will not help, you need additional boost from 8th grade to get the kids ready for JEE.

It would be a challenge for kids with CBSE to enter Overseas Unis, IB makes the ride smoother. Eventually all kids come out of Unis be it CBSE or IB. IB kids generally don't like to join indian colleges as the syllabus is mostly outdated and rote learning style. My kids refuse to go back to indian system. JEE exam and many of the entrance exams fall in May when IB final exams start.

Is there a video which explains the options for students who like the IB style of learning but plan to continue their studies in India after class 12. This is considering that the student is beginning Class 11

You have covered mostly obvious facts in this video. As a parent, how do I know whether my daughter will like to go abroad and stay alone at such a young age? Isnt it much more easier to send kids abroad for their masters rather than bachelors? Also you know how difficult the job market is abroad. If my daughter is going to 8th grade next year, how is the job markets in the US going to be in the year 2034? I have no clue. I think we should just go with the default path which is CBSE. You also went abroad but finally came back to India only right? Why do so much of overplanning in advance? I would rather plan for the mainstream CBSE -> Indian college. Later if my daughter has the accumen to go abroad, she will find a way. I think we are over analysing here. Until graduation, it really doesnt matter. Smart kids will figure out a way. The kind of exposure kids have these days, is way better, CBSE or otherwise. So please dont confuse parents and kids. 8th std se planning shuru karo, please give us a break :)

USA has so many Indian CEOs and high rank professionals across several industries. Mostly none of them studied in IB considering its a new phenomenon in India. Did their state board education stopped them from pursuing higher studies in USA? Smart folks will find their way, board doesn't matter much.

The same will be true the other way around as well. I don't think IB students will have a tough time succeeding in India as long as parents don't see getting into IIT or top medical schools as the only success criteria. A smart student will succeed regardless.

Sure, this is not to add any pressure but giving info to those who seek it :) No one is forcing you to do otherwise. Also, tricky situation arises when parents dont keep well informed, put all their eggs in Indian entrance exams basket and realize in Class 11th or 12th that the kid is not enjoying the exam prep and may not crack JEE or NEET. At that time, it become too late to prepare for abroad applications. So, this video is for those who want to keep their options open but ultimately you should do what you think will work best for YOU. I say that in every video.

SAT is required by some colleges and for that, you need it irrespective of whichever board you study in school. TOEFL/IELTS is also required.

as you said, you would suggest parents to send their children to an IB board at 9th grade or earlier, but i am studying in 10th grade already in a cbse school, and me and my parents are really considering joining an IB school in class 11. what would you suggest?
@ScholarStrategyTV

Changing boards in class 11th leads to taking time to the new curriculum, new friend circle etc. This can disorient some students, so we generally avoid changing schools in 11th. But if you think you can manage it, go ahead
