I'm a black 17 year old male who comes from a wealthy black family. This video is a generalization. There are plenty of wealthy black people and even more poor white people. Black doesn't equal poor. White privilege doesn't manifest itself for every white person. My dad grew up in a house the size of a large high school classroom in Cleveland Ohio. Today he has a net worth of 8 million dollars because HE WORKED HIS ASS OFF. I'm black and I KNOW that I am more privileged than the average white person in America. People see me and assume I'm poor because the media pushes forward a narrative that ALL black people are rotting in the hood. That's just not the case. Look up Quentin Primo, Don Thompson, or LA Reid. We can make it if we work hard and defy stereotypes. With affirmative action and other programs we have NO EXCUSE.

Dr. Carol Swain came from a very poor family from Bedford County, VA. She was the poorest of poor but decided after some encouragement from just two people to start working towards becoming a sucess. She didn't even know what racism was at the time, so it didn't bother her. She never talked about being a victim and did not want to depend on government handouts. Sounds remarkabley similar to BenCarsons story, but why did shehaveto write the story , it's common knowledgethat if you apply yourself you can succceed in todays world some have a harder time than others which is true. Caroll Swain seems to be saying look at me , Im black and I succeeded in this world an she is correct. If she makes some extra coin telling a white crowd she's succeeded in a unlevel playing field by applying her self so be it.

Where is there housing discrimination? I know many blacks including myself who own homes but you have to qualify. As for the blacks who are complaining, the reality of it is that they don't want the responsibility of owning a home. They're just running their mouths, complaining about Inequalities. They want to live in homes for free, have a home and pay section 8 rent. They don't want the responsibility of a mortgage or of maintaining the home. Moreover, this generational wealth rhertoic is giving me a headache, all white ppl didn't inherit all their wealth. They're just better at money management and they earn higher salaries. Most (not all) black ppl remain poor due to making poor decisions. For those who have two kids or more, they can invest their income tax refunds to clean up their credit and buy a home after. Financial illteracy is what's holding black ppl back. Redlining is over, and today they have countless opportunities to buy homes. Also, owning a home doesn't guarantee wealth! This is a delusion that some black ppl have. Many lose their homes due to their inability to pay the mortgage or IF there's equity, they'll use it for whatever reason, thinking it's free money , not realising that another mortgage has to be paid on said home equity loan. A home can be a headache. Secondly, some of them don't qualify for home ownership due to poor credit and employment history. We aren't entitled to loans and homes, we have to earn them. So first, you pay off bills so that you can enhance your credit, then you'll be more attractive to a lender. As for mass incarceration, stop committing crimes... simple. Once you stop committing crimes you won't have to worry about the unfair sentencing. For heaven's sake, just stop the criminal behaviour. Lastly, some communities don't want certain classes of black ppl in their areas...and so what! The children are unruly and destructive; not to mention, messy and those components devalue other ppl's properties. Change your behaviour and lifestyles and more ppl would be accepting of you all. We need to change as a ppl in order for others to respect us.

(5:30) - Now notice this gentleman's response. It is implicit that he acknowledges that Ms. Swain made a good objection, ironically his response actually helps her point. He highlights the problem with saying "all" which the video does (NO QUALIFICATIONS). It stereotypes two groups and within those groups women and men, again, there are no qualifications. Had he stopped there it would have been fallacious, ie. changing the subject. He actually ends up conceding to Ms. Swains point. She had a powerful objection in which he could not recover. If anything this highlights the hypocrisy of critical race theory which is the driving force behind these vids. Such worldviews ignore the intricacies of all human experience. So the question is does Mr. Dixon support a video that makes sweeping statements about different groups of people? Smells a bit like ontological racism. As a side note: As a black man I did not have to deal with this, in fact by God's grace I have my own house and sold a house prior (in my own name). Of course that's just my story. Ironically it's not the white supremacist I'm worried about in regards to wealth generation it's those critical theorist who want ideological conformity. As a Christian man I can't conform. If I lose my livelihood it will be because of them not because I'm black in America, some food for thought. Perhaps some might see that I have it bad in two ways I'm black man who is a Christian in America -

This video will confuse withe kids, and make black kids more victimized. Why talk about racism with kids in the first place. I think our young generation have no problem with diversity, it's adults who really need to grow up. Kids are color blind and innocent lets keep it that way, and parents at home need to be role models in that matter. So when they see racism outside, they will be already trained that this is not the norm. That's how racism will eventually die gradually.

How rich your parents were or how entitled your ancestors were don't help the kids get ahead. Very few people get any sizable inheritance. The people who have it going on come from struggle, who know how to work hard and to save. It means everything to have parents who love you. I will say that the war on drugs had destroyed families. Terrible video for school children. I just saw the interview and there's only hurt and defeat gained by planting defeatist images to our children. We don't want to make them fail by telling them they have everything against. There's honesty and then there's the film. The film may have some correct instances but you never tell a child "dont even try, here's why we THINK you will fail". The video is saying "you have no hope".

LOL, it's dated because the white girl doesn't win. I mean, you've got to explain, at least, that that year number is extremely important in interpreting the video. And, you need to be careful to acknowledge that black people would die to get their kids into the US and that a goodly part of that is being able to get your family to start its way into the generational wealth system. I see three people that are almost certainly part of that system already on the screen. The actually failure rate to join this system seems to be largely related to sexual immorality, like really. Like if you're celibate or married you're much more likely to do better. It's just correlated of course, lol, and theoretically describable. Instead of teaching a broad spectrum truth and offering high expectations, lol, we ban soft drinks and had out condoms.
