Edit: in reference to around 6:50 My middle school teachers actually stood out in front of their respective classroom doors and watched what kids do as go in but also keep a look out for anything else that might be unusual especially if the bathroom was across their classroom or enforcing the "no PDA" rule to boyfriends and girlfriends saying bye before class. Even if they didn't have a next class (librarians, rare occasions principals or vice principals) would stand and watch. We hated it, but at the same time there was very little room to ditch or do anything unseemly.

My school felt more like depending on the teacher, one teacher she would take it regardless if she seen it. I even heard she threw some people's phones out the window. Some teachers though would let you use it if nothing is being done for the day. Some even let you use them if you were done and nothing was to be learn through the day. At least they did tell you if they were ok with it or not. With my middle school it was no teacher standing at the door you go to the next class on your own. During middle school was when smart phones were still new. In 7th grade or 8th grade I had the iPhone 3 that I bought with the money I saved up, the phone was cheaper since the iPhone 4 was out at the time. 9th grade I got the iPhone 5.

3:01 Also for phone policy in my high school I remember it was like prison you can’t use your phone at all only at lunch, and if the principal or administrator catches you they take it off and you have to pay like 15 dollars or 50 dollars what a steal

I guess Ned could have a chance at succeeding with the essay about cell division, given that he could lengthen it by talking about both mitosis and meiosis. I remember myself always ensuring my science and math essays were long enough by understanding the concept thoroughly enough to provide enough information to fill up a page or more, or to meet a minimum word count.

I'm surprised passing notes is still a thing. I remember it was more common when I was in elementary school and I never saw it in middle or high school. As for eating in class, I once encountered a teacher who said he had a student with hypoglycemia and let him have snacks in class as a result. I can imagine Cookie eating lobster in class being a reference to that in a way.

Both middle schools I went to, one middle school for sixth and seventh grade and another one for eighth grade when I moved back to my childhood town. I thought I'd never say this about an episode of Ned Declassified but Lumar is a great embodiment of toxic masculinity. He only acts tough to save himself from humiliation and possible bullying by being the bully. But secretly, he wishes he could just being himself. He has a softer side to him that has to be hidden so he can "survive" school life because of the expectations society has towards males of all ages.
