So basically people want you to be a music critic? What’s wrong with not having a strong opinion on everything, and just listening to it? Especially with something as fluid as art. Part of the appeal of this channel, for me, is that you’re a casual listener, and NOT hyper-critical. Not to hate on Fantano, I love what he does, but sometimes I find myself being too critical of an album, and your videos remind me of how much more I would enjoy it if I stopped comparing and scrutinizing, and started trying to see things from the artists point of view, instead of my own. I’ve actually begun to love albums that I previously didn’t like, after seeing you get so hyped over certain parts, and pointing out things I hadn’t considered before. Keep doing what you’re doing, man. Love the positivity
@MunchthatCrunch5 жыл бұрын
Seriously. It doesn't take much effort to try and appreciate something, and it turns out that enjoying things as a result is a good return on investment. You know something is really trash when Tabby can hardly get through it (Revival cough cough).
@karl_franks5 жыл бұрын
if he's not a music critic why does the title say it's a review 🤔
@mrflacko47075 жыл бұрын
Karl Franks because he still gives his opinion on it, which makes it a review.
@napalmdreams96545 жыл бұрын
Karl Franks I mean..to review something is just to give your opinion. Tabby is giving his opinion loud and clear all over this video. He’s just not hyper-critical, and like he said, he tends to “give the benefit of the doubt to the artist”. I don’t think there’s a problem with that

ADAM SZUCS for real. I love Tabby and his take on the album is actually really smart but not everything is about Mac. This album had been done for a while. Schoolboy said it was done last summer on the TDE championship tour. This is just the sound he decided to go with for this project. There isn’t THAT deep of a meaning behind it. It is still a very personal and introspective album though.

The novel opens with Aunt Polly scouring the house in search of her nephew, Tom Sawyer. She finds him in the closet, discovers that his hands are covered with jam, and prepares to give him a whipping. Tom cries out theatrically, “Look behind you!” and when Aunt Polly turns, Tom escapes over the fence. After Tom is gone, Aunt Polly reflects ruefully on Tom’s mischief and how she lets him get away with too much. Tom comes home at suppertime to help Aunt Polly’s young slave, Jim, chop wood. Tom also wants to tell Jim about his adventures. During supper, Aunt Polly asks Tom leading questions in an attempt to confirm her suspicion that he skipped school that afternoon and went swimming instead. Tom explains his wet hair by saying that he pumped water on his head and shows her that his collar is still sewn from the morning, which means that he couldn’t have taken his shirt off to swim. Aunt Polly is satisfied, but Sid, Tom’s half-brother, points out that the shirt thread, which was white in the morning, is now black. Tom has resewn the shirt himself to disguise his delinquency. Tom goes out of the house furious with Sid, but he soon forgets his anger as he practices a new kind of whistling. While wandering the streets of St. Petersburg, his town, he encounters a newcomer, a boy his own age who appears overdressed and arrogant. Tom and the new arrival exchange insults for a while and then begin wrestling. Tom overcomes his antagonist and eventually chases the newcomer all the way home. When he returns home in the evening, Tom finds Aunt Polly waiting for him. She notices his dirtied clothes and resolves to make him work the next day, a Saturday, as punishment. Summary-Chapter 2: The Glorious Whitewasher “Say, Tom, let me whitewash a little.” (See Important Quotations Explained) On Saturday morning, Aunt Polly sends Tom out to whitewash the fence. Jim passes by, and Tom tries to get him to do some of the whitewashing in return for a “white alley,” a kind of marble. Jim almost agrees, but Aunt Polly appears and chases him off, leaving Tom alone with his labor. A little while later, Ben Rogers, another boy Tom’s age, walks by. Tom convinces Ben that whitewashing a fence is great pleasure, and after some bargaining, Ben agrees to give Tom his apple in exchange for the privilege of working on the fence. Over the course of the day, every boy who passes ends up staying to whitewash, and each one gives Tom something in exchange. By the time the fence has three coats, Tom has collected a hoard of miscellaneous treasures. Tom muses that all it takes to make someone want something is to make that thing hard to get.

Ay yo it’s actually crazy bro for some reason recently your reviews have just opened my eyes up to a lot of the deeper themes in certain albums a lot more... especially with this, Arizona Baby, and of course Swimming. At first when I heard this album, I enjoyed all the tracks and thought they were all bangers, but I honestly thought the tracklist was very inconsistent and that the album never really had a cohesive theme throughout. However, you explaining the concept behind the album really opened my eyes and I enjoy this quite a bit more. Thanks Tabs... P.s. how do you actually know whether certain artists order tracklists in a certain way.. bcoz sometimes when I listen to a lot of these albums by younger rappers, the tracklist just seems inconsistent and I can never truly tell

One thing I fucking love about the way you go about shit is that you don't skip tracks you've already heard as a single. When other reactors do that it completely ruins the album experience and makes their opinion pretty much invalid, as most songs work very differently in the context of the album and change the album's flow and you shouldn't score or critique an incomplete album that you willingly haven't listened to from front to back. So mad props, keep it up.
