While most people celebrate Halloween, there are several groups of Christian offbranches who condemn it and complain to schools about it being the "work of the devil". There's also a significant difference between the banning of Christmas stuff and the banning of Halloween stuff. Christmas is a Christianity-based holiday, so replacing it with general holiday celebrations allows for a broader scope and allows all schoolchildren to partake in holiday activities. Halloween is a predominantly pagan holiday which has become something nonreligious and corporate. Banning Halloween celebrations doesn't serve to include or exclude anyone other than people like Jehova's Witnesses. Banning one of these things eliminates a religious influence in schooling systems. Banning the other introduces religious fearmongering over harmless holidays. For the record, I'm an atheist who does celebrate Christmas, Easter, and all the other holidays. I prefer to view them as secular and just fun. There's a big difference between changing a holiday name commonly used by a single religion to something broader, and banning a nonreligious holiday just to please a few extremists who complained it was too creepy and pagan for their kids. Changing a hyperreligious holiday name allows for inclusion. Banning a nonreligious holiday completely allows for censorship. Western culture and Christianity are not the same thing. There's a reason we have rules regarding the separation of church and state. Feel free to celebrate your religion, but most schools do not want to, during school hours, host ANY religious beliefs. It's not inclusion, it's conflict avoidance. If you feel strongly about only celebrating Christmas at school, tons of private Christian schools exist and will humour that. Public schools, however, should stay secular, even if that hurts someone's feelings.

My school does the opposite. In the elementary school in my city, the kids are encouraged to wear costumes, and they even were able to trick or treat in the gym with their costumes. In the middle school, there is a Halloween dance. Also, Halloween is also being celebrated with mix it up day. Honestly, if I was at that school, I'd use an excuse of "Its my birthday", and "My birthday is going to be horror themed." Cause my birthday is on Halloween. But seeing my favorite holiday being canceled is just triggering.
