For the past year we have been hearing the excuse that kids are not in school because they don't have a tablet or computer. Yet the government is still asking Jamaicans to pay duty for tablets and computers during this period. Their excuse is that one or two persons who will benefit from this can already afford to pay the duty while hundreds of students suffer. I am very disappointed by that stance. With the high inflation that took place during covid, even those persons who could afford to import a tablet may have a harder time doing so as it will be almost like buying 2 tablets for the price of one.

As humans we need face to face interaction, everything now is online and I think it’s to the detriment of all of us. We are social beings, school is so much more than books. It’s about learning social skills, how to interact, solving disagreements and it’s also a safety net for many children who maybe struggling at home and need help. These children with no education, no hope and no job will become all of our problem sooner or later

Parents need to do more for the youth them and the government need to do more to save them. You can't fight crime if you dont fight it frm the root and in other you do so you need to capture the youth mind positively r else!!!

They still don’t go to school. I got a tablet for a youth in Jamaica. Paid for internet. He has not unfolded the opportunity. He choose to walk street and hang out with friends. These are the ones who will remain in poverty. .. they have no plans for the future and also too lazy to try.
