My dad, grandpa and 2 uncles started the camp in 1952. Now it is kids,grandkids and great grandkids, proud to have women in camp, one of which has gotten the biggest buck ever to date. This comment is for Matt, I had the same thing happen to me many years ago. What happened to me it was the doe season, i shot one doe and worked the bolt on my remington 700 kind of gingerly to not scare the other does, when i went to shoot the 2nd doe, click. Here i didn't get the bolt completely closed, my shell looked exactly like yours. The shell later on fired as it should.

Absolutely, one of the best examples of a real deer camp! Tx. No tree house, hay or corn pile snipers actual hunters in the woods the way it should be! Ground hunting blinds, tent camping fantastic! Please keep putting this out so younger generation can see what real hunting is supposed to be. However, make one correction please? Require all participants to wear clothing at all times!!! @PlayinHookySportfishing
@PlayinHookySportfishing Жыл бұрын
We’ve had wardens stop by and we never had an issue. Where we camp is not state owned public land though, so I don’t know if that makes a difference. Basically it’s a 6x4 foot piece of plywood with a 2x2 inch board around the outside. We have three holes (top,middle,bottom) of the 2x2s and we run a bolt through those to keep them together. We made some wood trusses for the top and put a tarp over them. We have wooden gables at the front and back which you see a few times in the video. Everything is held together with bolts except the trusses which sit on a small bracket bent out of sheet metal. You can see those in the video in some parts too if you pause it. I’ll try to include more of the engineering in the next installment of this series. Thanks for watching! Greatly appreciate it! 👊👊👊

Feet up, head down mounting in the tree. Good for a couple of reasons. One, it saves all of the nasty stuff from draining to the good meat in the rear quarters. And two, if a wolf or something did come around and try to eat your deer hopefully all it gets to is the head! I always hang my deer with the rear legs up in the air but I see a lot of Michigander's hanging their deer head first!

Last year I got on a nice set of fresh tracks and decided I'd follow them. There was two sets of tracks. I was walking slowly for about twenty minutes and came up over a hill, where I could see for quite a distance and noticed the tracks were running parallel to each other. I decided I'd better slow my tracking down a bit and pay closer attention out in front of me. As I crested the next hill and rounded the corner, I just felt like I was getting closer. About four to five minutes went by and as I made it to the top of the next hill and crept over the top, I saw it in the distance...stopped at the bottom of the hill. It was at that moment, that I realized that the set of parallel tracks I was on, were from the truck that two other hunters were traveling in. What a disappointing stalk that was. I decided to try again that evening.

just a quick comment on your first shot that barely dented the primer. In cold weather your gun oil that is supposed to lubricate your firing pit gets gummy. You will be better served to not have any oil if you are hunting is subzero temperature. You can use powdered graphite for lubrication. Your welcome.

I always had deer encounters including some decent bucks after an interruption. Fire wood gatherers with chainsaws, pheasant hunters, etc. I'd been paying close attention after that car drove through.

That guy was definitely road hunting. One time when we were there a few years ago baiting was still legal. The youngest member of the camp had a doe fawn walk up to his bait. It was the first deer he’d ever seen alive in the woods, but couldn’t shoot it because we didn’t have doe tags. A truck drove up and shot that doe fawn off the kids bait pile, which was about halfway between the kid and the shooter.
