07/17/23 i received my SCHF36. Was very happy with it as soon as i received it. I used it right away in multiple testings. It performed Wonderful. Even held its edge at the end.

Just bought the Schrade SCHF37 which is full tang, carbon 1095, 7" blade. In the UK, the lowest price I found is GB£39.99 (about US$52). Even at this price, I consider the knife to be a terrific buy, based on the research I have done and the reviews/reports I have seen and read. If you can buy the SCHF36 version for US$32 ~ go for it !!

Got mine for 26$, stripped the coating, fitted custom micarta scales, ordered new titanium torx's, softened gimpings, made bushcraft leather sheath for it. Result- brand new custom knife well worth around 200$.

I just got mine yesterday but it's the SCHF37 and I've used it and absolutely love this knife. Quality control has indeed improved and have no issues with mine and it's not crooked or anything like some people in the past have claimed that this knife was notorious for. Absolutely well worth the money and my daughter was impressed that she wants to buy the SCHf36, this knife you just reviewed. It's an awesome deal, think about it, what knife could you possibly buy under $60 that's 1095, comes with Ferro rod, diamond sharpener, and has a flat spine to actually use the ferro rod fight out the box???? Schrade has redeemed themselves in my eyes! and proudly keep my SCHF37 alongside my Beckers and Ontarios!! Well said and well done!!!

I made fun of people who bought Schrade knives for a long time, then I got my head out of my ass and bought one of these....very, very, nice. Definitely BK2 comparable and actually a touch lighter and almost easier to use. Worth every penny. I do wish they'd skip the rod and diamond plate and put that money to a better sheath.

Chazz Schaarschmidt The BG is not even full tang despite their claim (gap between tang and pommel), several reviews claim they broke in testing, good luck breaking a 36 it really is full tang and the blade is 1/4" 1095 steel. It really is a much heavier duty knife hence the 5oz weight difference. Don't take my word for it handle both and you will see what I am saying. You could make the argument that the lighter weight makes the BG better for an ultralight go bag but in truth I'll stick to my 4oz Mora for that, the Mora has a truly spectacular blade.

Chazz Schaarschmidt Go to a knife store/show and handle both of them, no contest, and when you consider the BG elite costs about twice as much it is a no brainier. Now I am not saying the 36 is the absolute best survival knife, that is a contest for the likes of the BK9, SP53, and premium Kukris which cost four to six times as much, but for the money the 36 is a superb choice, I would argue the best you can buy under $30 by a sizable margin and I know a thing or two about knives.

Chazz Schaarschmidt More of a bushcraft knife then a hunting knife, no doubt this would skin a deer but not my first choice for that, longer thicker blades are more awkward for separating skin from meat and meat from bone, trust me I have done that more then a few times. Bushcraft knives are much stronger construction for more wood focused work like chopping and batoning.

Chazz Schaarschmidt No one knife is the perfect "do it all" blade, my choice to carry in my survival bag is a SP53 Gen II AND a featherweight 4" Mora, the 53 is an extreme bushcraft knife and the Mora is superb for skinning and other precise knife work, but if I could only carry one and only had $27 the Schrade 36 is an easy choice.

I have the SCHF10 with the micarta handle. I hope they continue to offer both steels, I like blades in the 1095 and the Cr-Mov. If I buy another I'll take the TPE material.... and I'd like to have a straight blade in my kit, so this one is perfect. I like what I have, but I gotta have that one too. :)

I purchased the Schrade SCHF52 Frontier Full Tang Fixed Blade Knife with a 7.04" blade as opposed to the SCHF9 with a 6.4" blade or the Schrade SCHF3N which also has a 6.4" blade. That's just my preference. I want a longer blade. I will find a use for the Good videos and good gear appear in your recommendations. Keep up the good work. The Schrade SCHF37M with a 7.0 inch blade was also good, but I preferred the Schrade SCHF52 Frontier Full Tang Fixed Blade Knife with a 7.04" blade

Yo Bro, I'm not much into Schrade, but it seems they are trying to make decent style knives and I don't see too many failure's as much, what I like to do is get the SCHF 36 and the SCHF 37 and have the Micarta Handles put on them, the SCHF 36 M and the SCHF 37 M are identical except they cone in the 8CR17MOV Stainless Steel and I would rather have the 1095 High Carbon Steel Blade, again your video interested me.

I have their model 26 survival knife and love having it and don't abuse it. After having this one I purchased other of their knives and the only thing I don't like is that it is made in China. I wish it was American made, or made in Taiwan, or Japan. I have one Japanese knife and it is nice too, but not a full tang knife like some I have purchased.

You could see why I went with the Swamp Rat Rodent 6 it's one heck of a stout knife and a very good chopper for a 6" blade, but I had it thinned down so I could slice with it better (originally it's .260 thick) and I had the top gaurd taken off and now it look's like a beefy Ratmandu on steriods it came out great it chop's, dices, and slices, and oh yeah great to baton with its 6" blade lenght, but I just want some beaters and if I can get the Micarta Scales I'll put them on, or do you think the TPE will wear long and is there any hard plastic on the handles with the softer TPE Inlays ?
