This is my go to all-rounder versatile knife. It is not too small to do some serious business and not too large to be too intimidating. I own a selection of ESEE, K-BAR, Kershaw,, Morakniv, , Cold Steel, etc. knives. I am not a collector, but a user. Each one serves a niche purpose and each of these blades are affordable "every man" quality tools. You won't find me spending upwards of $1000 on a Sebenza for instance. I buy functionality at affordable pricing. If you take care of your equipment, it will last you a lifetime. Having said that; the Schrade SCHF10 is my absolute favorite. It simply does everything adequately!

...I tested the Sch10 over and over again by throwing it Tim.... For years! :-) It never let me down. A great throwing knife, really. Than, one day, i still remember where and when, the knife came back from throwing and it hit a stone… Piieieieng, the noise…. The knife was broken. A bought a new one. Again fun times in throwing….and one day… You get the picture. As you know Tim: this is a great knife. (And yes, I bought two new ones, one for throwing and one in the collection.)

There are certainly a ton of options. From Schrade, teh SCHF13 is nice and then you can get one Schrade's axes too. Mora makes some great options for low cost and you could still get an axe as well (Condor makes very reasonable options too). The BK2 from KA-BAR is good too - nice strong, flat pommel. Random side-note: I grew up in Poughkeepsie.

I bought this knife earlier this year for backpacking. I like the recurve blade because it bites into wood. It seems to be a clone of the Boker Orca at less than a fifth of the price. This knife and my Ontario Afghan Bush are my two favorite fixed blades.

A very balanced review indeed; thank you. As a user of knives; not a collector, I agree that this is a very versatile survival tool. I often make use of pangas, machetes, kukris, bayonettes, axes, fixed as well as folding blades, and so forth (I travel extensively by choice). And no; I am not a survivalist, I have an office job but absolutely love the outdoors. For general use and "bang for your buck"; this knife is it. In a survival situation it could save your life due to its versatility. I highly recommend it. Just a pity about the shitty sheath with the crappy Velcro straps (but that can be remedied at minimal cost). Buy this knife. It does the job and it is cheap.

Thanks for the feedback - let me know how you like the knife when you get it.

Good deal - I've got that one coming up for review soon.

Check Ultimate Survival Tips review of it - seems like they used the pommel for some breaking and it held up. Certainly not going to use it to drive tent stakes though.

Been watching your knife reviews and cannot decide on the Sch9 or the Sch10. I also found the Sch3 and Sch3nm very cheap, but they all seem so durable and worthy of purchase. You do great reviews.

Thank you - I appreciate the encouragement. I have heard of some possible issues with the SCHF3, but nothing confirmed at this point. Also, they do have a bunch of new blades coming out for 2014 - should be shipping soon. You could certainly contact Taylor Brands and ask them to send you the 2014 catalog.

Bro, I just got the Schrade Extreme SCHF3 Survival Fixed Blade. I am looking at this one for my wife. Great review!

Great bro, I debated from the 3 or the 9, but I guess the 3 has more characteristics of a Combat knife. Anyway, I would definitely check out your review!

I gotta laugh - as I edited the video I thought the same thing. Well, at least you know I've beaten up on it in the testing. Thanks for the sub, brother.

now this is ok, the steel is similar to 440C, and its a fine looking knife, it will be on my list.

Wanted to let you know that Schrade now offers this knife with the same TPE grips as the SCHF9. Maybe you can do a review of it.
@EverydayTacticalVids11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that - I've got that in the 'Future Reviews' list. I've got a bunch of new Schrade Axes to review first though.

Whelp...there goes another night out to eat this month. Don't mean to be derogatory, but the hex bolts in the handle are held to each other with loc-tite, and not just a dab or two. They are extremely difficult to remove. A person needs to heat the hex nuts with a small torch while being very careful of the handles if you are going to change the scales. Remember that a mod like this will void the lifetime warranty, so it might be best to save the old scales and nuts.

Great review. Do you recommend this SCHF10 or the SCHF51? What about the SCHF9 vs SCHF52? Thanks

You don't want to bust through the wood, hit a rock, and dull your blade.
