Hey man, I don't normally EVER watch videos like this. However the way you run down specifications and explain exactly why it is built the way it has been built, and what the benefit of that specific build rocks. I left this video feeling educated and well informed and I appreciate it

In my experience, the majority of products I have purchased that have been absolute junk were manufactured in China. That is - I have paid out of pocket and the item broke easily due to corners cut or what have you. Now is that in regard to ALL things made from China? Certainly not. This knife may be a fine piece of craftsmanship, but unless I can physically hold it in my hand to see that, I would just rather avoid the risk. Again, I'm speaking from personal experience though. Your own mileage may not exemplify as such and that's great. My comment seems like an odd thing to seemingly get offended by...it was definitely not my intention.

T.K. Archibald the stuff you bought might came here indirectly, which means that might be the seller get their merchandise from a retailer in china instead of coming out of the factory and come straight here

I have a request. Could you make a video on how to survive being attacked by a bear with only a knife to defend yourself. Like if you are able to reach your knife and the bear hasn't already ripped you to shreds. Also the vital areas of a bear. Where you should strike if you have the chance. I'm not planning to fight a bear. But if I encounter one I would like to be able to live through it. I know about wearing bells while hiking and bear spray. I also own a gun. But I'm talking about worst case scenario . If a video like this already exist. can someone give me the link. Thank you.

Raymond Mata according to a guide I purchased a 9" blade bone handled knife off of explained to me very kindly that your chances of surviving a bear attack with just a knife are zero. A bear doesnt die like a human, as soon as we bleed we stop and understand what is happening, a bear does not it just continues to kill until its heart stops or it bleeds out which would be a long time before you even had a chance to do any damage and it would just kill you
@nicholasbrookins6906

In Alaska, the bear threat is real and people die. They Glock 21 I had would only be effective if I where to get lucky enough to hit the bear in the eye socket and have the projectile enter the brain cavity. Which is virtually impossible if they are moving. If you have seen the movie with Leo Dicaprio and how the bear attacks, that is pretty accurate. Other than him surviving. This small grizzly bear I saw in Denali park (450 lbs) was able to dig through the tundra in two scoops to get to these little white potatoes (Sluice I think they are called). The bear went through the tundra (frozen ground that shovels can't penetrate) like it was sand at the beach. They can run up to 35 miles per hour. So a knife attack would have to severe its carotid to have any chance of eventually killing it. But that would be after you are dead. Please not go into the woods. Just stay in the city.

In the early 1800s, California pioneers would tie a grizzly bear by the rear legs to a pole in a corral. Then they would release a long horn steer in to the corral. These animals are deadly enemies and fight to the death. The bears generally swatted the steer on the neck killing it instantly. Occasionally the steer would stab the bear to death. Reminds me of the Romans releasing prisoners into the Colosseum to fight lions.

Correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure all Schrade knives are made in China. They were bought out some years ago by I believe Taylor & Co. Taylor & Co. also make Smith & Wesson and Colt knives which are made in China. I am not saying that all Chinese stuff is garbage but China is something I don't want etched onto my knife blade. Just my opinion. To each his own.
@elkhunter8664

My opinion as well. On general principal I vowed years ago no Chinese knives. I did break my vow once because a nephew wanted this type knife and he is pretty young. Bought basically this same knife at Big 5 for $14, some made up brand. I would not be surprised if the schrades came out of the same factory. That is the problem with outsourcing and brand names.

Yeah... The last US Schrade factory closed in 2004, when Taylor Brands bought them out. I'm lucky to still have a few "pre-Taylor" Schrades! I ordered a SCHF9N, and am waiting on its arrival. The "9N" differs from the "9" in 2 main ways. The "9N" is made from 8Cr13MoV High Carbon *Stainless Steel*... and the blade is is Hollow-Ground vs Sabre-Ground(most of you will know what that means)...

Thanks again David, I really enjoy your videos!I love my ESEE knives (#5 & an Izula), but this blade has found it's place in my hunting pack, I have put it through a few paces and it has held up well. I'm confident that it will serve me foe a long time. The sheath is O.K. too. I removed the "Hook & loop" from the pouch. I felt the buckle was good enough to hold in my Altoids kit, w/ a CS Style, ferro-rod and two types of tinder. The curved blade is nice too. I recommend it for anyone on a budget or whoever wants to save some money! Godspeed, danofiremano

The way the handle flares out at the top is called a recurve design. In folding knives, it allows you to pack a larger blade into a smaller cutting surface. It also makes the blade a little bit better at slicing motions just due to the geometry of the blade overall. In fixed blades like this one, recurves come in handy for about the same reasons. But the added bonus is that they also have more heft at the top of the blade making them better chopping tools. You just proved its chopping design.

Good question. We use our tree firewood, shelter, props for the peach trees etc... Trees are a renewable resource... And with proper management provide a sustainable supply for us. Nothing goes to waste here... We heat with passive solar (no heat running on sunny days) and with wood 100% every other day. I am a tree hugger... haa... haa... and I love my trees and take care of my forest and it takes care of me. Thanks man! ~David

I have owned and have used this knife since it has hit the market. It’s indestructible! I’ve used it for bush craft and everything else and it’s freaking awesome! It’s worth way more than it costs.
