No, it's not the problem. The problem that I have seen in the US is that musicians make a difference between 'heavy' composers like Wagner, Bruckner, Tschaikowsky, and 'light' composers. Schubert is one of the light ones - and that is the biggest mistake you can make. And that's why Zander has to work that hard, and why the first violin sometimes looks kind of bothered. When I listen to the first few bars, my tears will be running. But just Amercan musicians will still smile...

"Bothered" is the wrong word i.m.o. You will notice that she accepts what he says and tries to do it. Obviously, she is excellent as a violinist and as the leader of the group. The situation now produces a mixture of accepting his suggestions and his criticism on the one hand but not losing the necessary attitude of being the first violin, that is, (sorry but true) the leader in Schubert's string quintet - a role she is obviously used to, and this not just incidentally! We see five great young musicians at work, not a bothered violinist.
