The opening footage is really neat, showing how the "wing on stilts" moved with the suspension on the early Lotus wing cars. This channel is criminally underrated. Thank you for sharing your wealth of archival footage!

Damon Hill was not a match for Michael Schumacher. In 1994 almost half of his points came in races where Michael was disqualified or suspended. In races where both competed it was 92 vs 51 and Damon only beat Michael once, in Japan. In 1995 it was a massacre that would have been even worst if Damon hadn't crashed Michael twice in Silverstone and Monza. Not to mention Michael's issues in San Marino and Montreal which prevented him to win 13 of 17 races that year. Damon needed one of Newey's masterpieces (Williams FW18), a rookie teammate and Michael moving to a Ferrari which literally fell off in pieces to (barely) win a championship.

@@haniotis3421 what about Barcelona 1996 ? Who dominated the field under the rain and who crashed? Hill was way inferior to Schumacher

@@From33to77 Sure, and Schumacher had crashed in the rain many times otherwise. Do not give a blanket statement for "Damon Hill was not a match for Michael Schumacher." He was on several occasions--maybe Schumacher was better more often, but Damon had his moments of greatness. If he hadn't beaten him in Suzuka '94 in the rain, we would not have seen that famous end to the '94 championship.

@haniotis3421 not saying that Hill did not have his moment of greatness but Schumacher was just way better overall Note also that Hill won Japan 1994 also because of the Benetton team that called Schumacher for pits when it was not needed. Belgium 1995 is again also an example of the difference between the 2 drivers

Damon only went to Adelaide with championship chances because he won 4 races where Michael was disqualified or suspended. In 1994-95 Damon won 10 races against 17 from Michael. Considering Damon won 4 without Michael (not to mention Barcelona 1994 where Damon needed Michael's car to get stuck in 5th gear for 2/3 of the race to win), he only won 6 races and it was the only races he finished ahead of the german in 2 full seasons. He was not a match for the german... for sure
