Extraordinary, as is all of Schiff's work. As much a (or more than) any pianist, Schiff's art foregrounds the work; he is both present as an interpretive performer, and, at the same time, in a sense, transparent, i.e., his interpretive dignity, integrity, and poise eschew extra-musical distractions that call undue attention to the performer rather than to the work performed.
