So how to you get around the lock on the other side? The map only showed a portage on river right.

Hi Bert...what did you use for the camera mount? My SeaEagle 393rl coming in couple days. Thanks to your review.

When this video was made I was using a DIY camera mount, but now that sea eagle sells Scotty Mounts for their inflatables, I've put one on my Explorer and I have a Scotty Pole Mount for the camera. It works really well. Not sure if the Scotty mounts work on the Razorlite tho.

hey Bert, I,m torn between the explorer and the fast track. paddling 100 down the in the Clarion River. in about 2 months. how does the explorer paddle? on slower moving water.
@bertsadventures99743 жыл бұрын
The Clarion River is on my list! Tried to do it last summer but water level was too low. If you are only going to be doing flat water or slow rivers, than my guess is that the Fasttrack would be totally cool, but for me, I don't think you can beat the versatility of the Explorer. I've had it in the ocean, the bay, on lakes, flat rivers and class III+ whitewater. That aside, I have never felt like I was noticeably slower on any water when I'm with other paddlers in traditional kayaks. The exception is the wind. There's no getting around the fact that we catch more wind than a hard hull.

Where are you doing the Clarion? Would love to know where you are going to start & finish and what the camping situation is on that water. Thanks!

@@bertsadventures9974 we are starting in Johnsonburg and floating to Parker, that's the plan anyway, I'm piggybacking a friend's trip he's got the nitty-gritty on the trip. a quick google search I was able to find river maps for the upper, middle, and lower sections. My buddy has most of the info as time gets closer we will dial the trip in. Thanks for the reply one more boat question. does the explorer track well without the skeg? I'm leaning towards the fast track, as we don't have much fast moving white water, but having that inflatable keel below the boat makes me nervous (i mostly float the Alleghany river up near kinzua dam, french creek, and oil creek) and they can get pretty low in the summer. Most of the "white water" to be had here locally to me is only right after heavy downpours or during the spring thaw, which is also a short window of time anymore. I do however enjoy getting out in lake Erie from time to time, the explorer I think would win here with the extra buoyancy Below are links to the different sections of the clarion. thanks again. pfbc.pa.gov/watertrails/clarion/clarion_middle_guide_map.pdf pawilds.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Clarion_WT_Guide_Upper_112213.pdf waterlandlife.org/assets/crwtm.pdf

@@paulrizzo7571 I have the stock skeg that came with the boat. I think it is 11" and I almost never use it because I purchased the "shallow water" skeg from SeaEagle. It is 6" and I use it all the time and only take it off for serious whitewater so that I can maneuver easier. The shallow skeg only gets caught up in the skinniest of water.

Where you landed for the dam portage, you were on the wrong side of the river. You coulda found better spots on the other sode. Trust me.

@7:05 is that a police boat? Regardless, that seemed to eb the only boat that slowed down to go by, to avoid making trouble for you with their wake. Those jetskiers were rude mofos.

I noticed you have the base seat in your boat... is it comfortable?
@bertsadventures99744 жыл бұрын
Hey Warren! I have absolutely no problem with the inflatable seat. I paddled close to 300 miles this summer and never had any concerns with the seats. Plus I like that you are a few inches higher.
