Wife and I have been kayaking more and more often. We are leaning towards a couple of these exact kayaks. She is small. 5'9" and 135lbs. Me on the other hand I'm 6'4" 290lbs. Would these kayaking work for us in your opinion. Stability is huge. Although I would like to be able to buck a current.
@bertsadventures99743 күн бұрын
I'm personally not a fan of these Malibu kayaks. They track horribly and want to spin out when you stop paddling. I have them at my cabin for guests to use and I'll occasionally take one fishing. There are better options. I think any of the Sea Eagle inflatables are a better option, in my opinion. I also really like the sit on top by Eddyline but that's a whole different price point.
@barry4fish5 күн бұрын
Thanks Bert, wonderful float, I would love to do that one. Thanks so much for not drowning out the beautiful water noises with background music like so many others do, that made it so much more enjoyable. The river reminds me of the lower Osage R. here in Missouri, but to get that peaceful, I usually have to do that river later in the year and middle of the week. And, I must say, probably the best video I have seen of a float with the Eddyline Skylark (by the way, you can get that model in the Teal color now!). These are the kind of trips I love to do. And, during low flows on some of the larger rivers that have mostly long pools, you can actually paddle upstream for a considerable distance, allowing a return with no shuttle needed.
@bertsadventures99744 күн бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! The sound of the paddle going through the water is what reminds me where I am. I appreciate the Skylark comment. It is such an amazing boat and I enjoy every minute my butt is in the seat.

Thanks Bert! Looks like a great trip. I have a little pack raft and looking to upgrade to a SE explorer. As a solo paddler, would the 300 be big enough space for camping gear or would you recommend 380? I’m in Colorado and not looking at doing more than class 3 rivers and flat water as well.
@bertsadventures9974Ай бұрын
Thanks Travis! I would assess how you will use the boat the majority of time. If it is mostly flat water and or multi-day then I would go with the 380X. You'll appreciate the added capacity along with better tracking and speed of a longer boat. If majority whitewater then I would go with the 300X as it is more maneuverable, but the 380X is awesome on whitewater as well. In tight creeks maybe the 300X gets the nod. Flip a coin!

Is there a big difference between the two kayaks in whitewater? Anyway, just throwing out some questions. Thank you!
