Last week, I broke one of my wife's tire levers and went on the search for replacement levers. I was leaning toward Pedro's beefy levers until I saw the special feature of the Schwalbe levers which aides remounting tires. This video is the trial of that Schwalbe Lever Set. Will it actually work or NOT?

I receive nothing from Schwalbe for this video. I bought these levers with my money, no discount, no incentives, I paid the posted price from Bike Tires Direct.
Give a thumbs up if you get something from this video. Thanks for watching.

Just watched your video all the way from Seoul, Korea. And just ordered a set for 6,000 Korean won. Quick useful stuff. Thanks!

Thanks for the comments Glad you got something out of the video. Just checked the exchange rate; you got a great bargain, paying about one half the current Amazon US price.

@@RV2Cycle That's interesting. The lower price here may be simply due to competition among a large number of online bike accessory sellers here. Or just overpriced in the U.S.!

Omg, you guys are too cute. Cue wife, she opens the doors, slowly makes her entrance (legs only), you show the slightest hint of annoyance, but she is happy to video bomb your demo. I think you convinced me to buy a set, but my only concern is whether or not these will damage a carbon rim.
@RV2Cycle
@RV2Cycle Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment AND sharing the concern I have successfully used them without issue on carbon; both mounting and removing Tubeless Continental GP 5000s - the toughest tire around for mounting and removing. The wheel used in the video is carbon. Carbon rims, have come a long way; they can take a beating. Also, the bead on the rim is thick, making it TOUGH; tough enough for CX, MTB and Gravel - all in addition to road wheels.

@@RV2Cycle Super helpful, thanks for sharing. I just ordered some Zipp Firecrests, and also the GP5000 S TR, which is Continental's latest. Have you tried that tire? I heard it might be slightly easier, but yeah I am concerned about getting stuck out on the road. I'm glad to know I don't have to be too delicate with the wheels--these are my first set of carbons. I was going to get some Aeolus, but there's just too big of a deal going on right now for the Zipps. And I ordered these levers to help.

I have not tried that tire. My next "trial' set of tires is Schwalbe. I have a need to swap now but I've been putting it off - pure procrastination. Aeolus is what my wife has on her Trek. I have the Knot Hollowgram 64 on my cannondale. Both her wheels and mine have taken a beating - they are tough!!! Really appreciate your viewship and comments!

@@RV2Cycle quick question, have you used these on hookless rims? Or do they only work on hooked rims? I'm specifically inquiring about the part that clips onto the rim and prevents the bead from sliding off.
@RV2Cycle
@RV2Cycle Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. Quick answer - no I have not used them on hookless rims. My hypothesis is they should work, up to the point of being perpendicular to the top of the rim. After the angle exceeds 90 degrees, slippage seems much more likely than with the 'hooked rims". Still, I have no personal experience using them on hookless so my hypothesis is only that - a hypothesis. If you're considering hookless rims, be aware that some tires will not work on hookless and some will. Certain tire manufactures will state on their website or on the product literature/packaging hookless or not. The Bike Radar crew put out an article on this issue a couple years ago which I recommend reading before going all in: www.bikeradar.com/features/hookless-rims-road-tubeless/ Steve

Schwalbe Tire Levers definitely good option. However, from my experience I didnt find 3rd level as schwalbe instructions suggested useful when mounting tyre back as resulted in excess tension and feels like going to rip tyre. Best way was to work with hands up and using 1 -2 levers.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. I have experienced similar issue with three levers, in fact that brand of lever didn't much matter in my endeavor. I prefer simple (when simple works) and the more levers, the more complex the task. Again, thanks for sharing!

These tyre levers are the best I have owned. You kinda take your time to get them in the right place then it all neatly falls into place, just like you demonstrated. Very satisfying. Enjoyed the interruption also 😃

@@RV2Cycle I thought the Schwalbe tire levers are no good, I have always used my Park Tool tire levers. Recently, however, I really had the problem to heave the last piece of my 29er MTB tires over the rim. I will now give the Schwalbe tire levers another chance!

Perfect demo of these levers, they're great at fitting stubborn tyres, particularly the latest tubeless beads like the GP5000 which have really thick beads. For removal I think they lose out to Pedros but most of the pain with tyres is in the fitting, not removal, so these win overall for me. And at £3 a set they're cheap enough if you break one.
