@@Thomas-lh4hf I'm sorry you didn't like it, but you might be missing a point about the story. The lead character has been through the events as we see them unfold, many, many times. He's long past having any emotions about the things going on around him. All he wants to do is to save his brother, and he's devoted all this effort toward that one goal. It's his brother he's emotional about, and we see that only at the end, when he realizes the painful truth of the situation. Now, the lead actor may or may not have done the best possible job of portraying that character, but a key part of the story is that he's so fixated on his mission that he hasn't got *time* for emotions.
@246spyder
@246spyder 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly, his experiences' are all he is thinking about and HAS to follow them to the second, his emotion finally comes and he experiences' the inevitable. His look is his final emotion. He did a good job all through from the beginning.
@vixiki
@vixiki 6 жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-lh4hf That was kind of the point. It is at the end he realizes there is nothing he can do about his brother dying on that day, so he's just going to use that last opportunity to speak to him. Also, he's a super-geek who discovered how to turn back time, so he actually played that part perfectly.
@discretelycontinuous2059
@discretelycontinuous2059 5 жыл бұрын
Superbly amazing. He watched his brother die nearly 400 times over. His brother in the end said that "firemen don't run away from fires". All he wanted was to soend time with his brother. He finally let go and acceoted his brothers fate and allowed them to have this final bonding and human connection. That way, when the time comes he could say goodbye properly, and let his brother go out and save people with the remainder of the life he has left. His brother would not die in vain running away from danger but instead run full-tilt straight into the flames and rip other people, strangers out from it's grip. Everybody dies eventually, is it not noble to do so bravely and to make your last action something which helps your fellow humans? What a fantastic film!

No, that is not the last moment. That is the 381st attempt. The guy who memorized 400 lines of code just to make a 6 grade kid happy can't let go of his brother, even if they only spoke twice in 4 years. He won't give up, he spent 380 days not giving up. This time they are going to talk after the phone gets wet and well into the afternoon. Maybe, just maybe, this is the exit. If not, tomorrow it's the 382's day.

It's finny you should say that lol How do you feel about the tv series Meet the Kardashians?? Bc the director/producer of Exit Strategy, Travis Bible, also produced like 5 episodes of MTK. IMDb, check it out, it's true. A vast majority of all these Dust short films are created by people who have done major roles in the film industry. Don't believe me check out IMDb yourself lol. For all intents and purposes the Dust channel is an indie channel, not a fan-made channel. It's interesting how the "internet" will get in bed with anything simply bc it has the Fan-Made label slapped on it before actually trying it or watching it. Side Note: I am in no way bagging on Dust, bc I absolutely love most of their short films.

This is truly awesome. I love short films where character is placed over special effects or even the core premise. I think at its heart, this story is about how love is communicated, and how trying to keep somebody around doesn't mean anything if the relationship isn't there. Seeing all the pains that he went through to keep his brother alive was really moving, and gave a heartbreaking clarity to the sterile and emotionless nature of the first half of the short film. 10/10, flipping excellent

lol "physics enthusiast", there is a reason this is called sci-fi, hate to tell you time travel will never be possible. it is impossible. Einstein couldn't solve his own equation for it, and nobody since then has either. The equation for time travel, theoretically speaking, is easier to solve than other equations that are much more difficult that have already been solved. so if time travel was a thing, it would already be possible and many, many people would be able to do it.

There was no declaration of factuality of time travel. Science fiction is allowed to play with physics as much it is with any field. Loosely similar to "The Butterfly Effect" with Ashton Kutcher. The protagonist kept using his time-traveling ability to try to avert a negative outcome. Memorable short film. 15 minutes of brilliance. Built around two superb performances by Christopher O'Shea and Richard Kohnke. Together with an excellent supporting cast. Well done Travis Bible. Hope to see and appreciate much more of your work. Kudos and compliments to you, Travis!

That was REALLY good. Once it was obvious, as per your design, this was all about time travel your ending are only a few. He tried and lived so hard to save his brother but thankfully at the end he realized no matter what he thought or felt he had to let him go. So he made the best of it. Great parallel that personally ties into my life. I felt this deep. Thank you so much

It almost reflects how we do things nowadays. We always try to be so perfect, to win, to fit things perfectly, to look so great, to have the best IG story. So much so that we forget to do something very important: Enjoy the moment, be with the people we love.

I watched through, then stopped the next video so I could say how inventive, creative and stupendous your short film is. Now the emotions have hit me like a freight train. Tears rolling down my face. You succeeded where many mainstream long form films fail - you connected with your audience and made us feel and fall in love with the characters and care. You touched my heart and soul with this film. From one actor to another - I absolutely LOVE your work!

I don't think it was meant to be a dead battery. I think Shane didn't want matt driving that car, because he either dies or hears about the fire in it. I get the feeling Shane did something simple like disconnect a fuel line, and didn't want Matt looking under the hood

@@juangama1850 I believe he said that to stop Matt from looking in the engine bay. Matt clearly doesn't know what a dead battery sounds like, and probably doesn't know how to fix it. Saying something like "I pulled a fuel line off your car" would be too suspicious.
