Absolutely incredible! It's a very simple film, a very simple story, yet it really reaches deep down into your emotions. Virginia Newcomb really knocked it out of the park here. She made that character feel so real. And I cared so much for he in that short twelve minute span. The only thing I don't quite understand though is why did the recycling man try to conceal his face from the police? Is he illegally scraping the machines or something? If that is the case, what did I miss that indicated that?

The new kid would be better off living with the recycling man

That's exactly almost what happens in the series...

Essentially the “The Recycling Man” is Blade Runner meets Hitchcock‘s mystery-thriller Rear Window. In Blade Runner, there’s bio-engineered ‘people’, that are synthetic humans known as replicants. It’s pretty much the same in the dystopian future here. Great film.
