so that capsasin one. its actually even better. most mammals cant actually sense it at all. nor can birds. its mostly the large apes (including humans) and insects that are sensitive. its an insecticide. the fact humans can taste it and (many) like it is an accident. and contrary to what it may seem, this is not a bad thing. actually, from the perspective of a plant, it is typically a very VERY good strategy to be as tasty and desirable as possible to humans. many animals get a reputation as seed distributors but NONE of them can spread the plant around the whole planet in a matter of hours. humans can. not to mention having an incredibly resourceful and arguably intelligent creature not only spreading said seeds but actively working to optimise the growth of those seeds is a major bonus in most cases.
