The most interesting part of this is that Ray seemed like he genuinely wanted to earn his good grade

Cat Goddess gets sadder when you realize he’s a hard worker and could earn good grades. However people are too interested in his athletic ability that they try to dampen his ability to study and overall inhibit his growth. He’s a walking sports machine to them
@calebtsedzik62224 жыл бұрын
@@williamnguyen8663 Yes, people are naturally prone to stereotyping everyone. In Ray's case, he probably could have been something more than just a good sportsman, and likely even combine these qualities. Yet the society pressures him to be who they perceive he should be, not only because it is more "profitable", but also because this is a more comfortable way to understand reality.

A friend of mine who is a basketball player got an A in an athelete-exclusive course (of the same course value) for writing a two page paper on why exercise is good for you. Okay, I love John Cena. Sure, he may have a truly obnoxious meme surrounding him, but every time I hear him talk, he's the sweetest, most genuinely *human* person. He's got such a sweet, innocent smile (which can turn naughty very fast), and he's hilarious in these SNL skits. I just adore him. Okay, I may also love his muscles and how his arms look like very well-shaped pillows that hug you back, but it's mostly the sparkly personality.

It’s funny cause it’s true. I spent a couple weeks building a science project where I basically built an alternator from scratch. I had it setup so that other people could spin it to make a light bulb glow. I believe I had a pretty cool setup it got tons of attention, I also believe I did a damn good presentation but when I received my grade it was mediocre. But the jock that did his project on pop-corn did no presentation just handed out popcorn from his pop-corn popping cart thing. He very briefly explained how corn popped the rest of the time he talked about what flavors of popcorn there were and which were his favorite. Then donated the popcorn cart to the schools faculty. He got a gold medal... wtf
@MasterShugo6 жыл бұрын
yeah this never happened.
@JamesWilson-du4xt6 жыл бұрын
Jabberwock only part of this that was a stretch was him receiving a gold medal because it wasn’t literally gold. The whole school gathered in the gym and they presented three people with rewards him 1st and some prize money or some shit. 2nd & 3rd were just kids who’s parents had a lot of influence with school staff. It was like that all throughout school. My parents or my mom at least was always pushing me to compete in academic achievement bullshit so she could brag about me at church..I quit fuckin with it and fell in love with construction, welding and automotive. They’d win Everything but writing essays and poems because they couldn’t do anything their parents couldn’t do for them. Funny thing is that they “joked” about their parents doing it for them...... Anyways When it came to it unless you got money or you go to church with them and your children are best friends, good luck. Anyways I love what I do, seeing this only reminded me of that kid who always won with the same project reused year after year after year.

Sometimes you hear these college players speak and think "there is no way these dudes pass their classes". It's not just bama but let's be real, the dominant football programs make sure the teachers pass those students (even if they don't even slightly deserve it).
@kdogg2576 жыл бұрын
There was a player who recently played a few games of fortnite on stream with a big time streamer. Guy was a DE from Michigan. He basically said he takes one class and thats it. Now his other friends who were I think the QB and some other players all had full blown 5 class schedules, but I think part of it is that some of these players take a complete blow off class, and that's how they stay enrolled and make a passing grade. It's not illegal I don't believe, but it is shitty. But when you're pretty much a lock to be a pro athlete I guess schooling doesn't matter when you can make millions in a few years.

This was pretty hilarious. Cena has awesome comedic timing. But as a professor, I can verify that none of us (at least, nobody I know) would go easy on an athlete. We do, however, have to notify administration if any student athlete starts doing poorly so that the coach knows to ride them. So there is a bit of hand-holding that goes on, but not from the professors. I've never been pressured from admin or athletics to pass a student that didn't deserve it. I have had students beg me to pass them. Sorry my man, you had every opportunity to pass the class like everybody else. I'm not a professor at Alabama though. So there is that...
