I worked for a mosquito abatement and learned a lot about how to fight them. It's all about controlling their breeding. The Aedes mosquito is domestic, it originated in Egypt. It started laying eggs in pottery barrels full of water and continued to only lay eggs in any type of man made containers. They stick their eggs on the inner walls of any type of container right above the water line. These mosquitos were hard to fight because they commonly are found in peoples front and back yards. So gaining access to a lot of spots was difficult. They can really infest entire neighborhoods and cause a lot of problems because they bite during the day and bite multiple times before completing a blood feed. So make sure nothing around your yard holds water for more than 3 days at least. Also if you read all of that, here is the secret to getting mosquitos away from your house is garlic powder. mix it with water in a spray bottle and spray your yard. Keeps mosquitos away for hours and only smells like garlic for about 30 minutes.

It’s the deadliest war in America’s history since both sides are considered Americans. It is definitely not the deadliest war in the world’s history. If they meant up until that time, I’m still not sure if it was the most deadly in the world but now I’m going to do a macabre google search.
@amberswafford93055 жыл бұрын
Definitely not. The first war that came up was the Qing (I believe I’m spelling it correct) takeover of the Ming dynasty in China from 1816-1883 so it ended after the US Civil War but prior to 1865 there were already far more deaths than the civil war was responsible for. I’m assuming this information must be about American deaths in war. As I said, the civil war still has the highest death toll for Americans. Edit: according to Wikipedia WW2 cost more American lives than the Civil War which means I was lied to by my history professor and then I unknowingly lied in KZbin comments. 😏

I very rarely get bit. I also found eating a little above average yellow onions repels mosquitos. I go on a camping trip every year with friends and family, and about 2 to 3 days before the trip I would encourage my friends and family increase their onion intake to the point it's coming out their pores, and shockingly enough we don't get bit up, one of us might get a bite or two on occasion but nothing too bad, but it does work. Before I discovered the onion method we could get eaten out there.

Growing up my nan insisted that eating marmite was a magic mosquito repellent. Eat it every day for two weeks to really get it into your cells and apparently the "smell" of it keeps them away. We tried it on holiday once and it worked.

I use a mosquito net to protect my family from mosquito bites during night. During day time mosquitoes mostly hide. However when we go outdoors we wear full sleeve clothing and herbel repellants.

@hotrodray68025 жыл бұрын
They have. It's just too difficult to make the mosquitos use it. They're obstinate.
@tylisirn4 жыл бұрын
They have. It needs to contain high concentration of either DEET or pyrethroids (like permethrin), or both. And needs to be applied with sufficient coverage on every part of your exposed skin and re-applied every few hours. While they work somewhat from a distance, they are mainly contact repellents, which is why coverage is important.
