I am curious why they didn't use this power against the Fell earlier, but given some statements made, they were trying NOT to be the intimidating masters of lightning war that they are in this universe. The sheer fact that she was out and about, before taking the throne, shows that she was on a sounding mission, seeing the reactions of people. And it makes for a neat contrast. The scene here is the same as on the trade station, but on a grander scale. And this time she doesn't come across as the unbelievably aggressive sort, as the human forces didn't wipe out the enemy, instead merely pruning them back enough to keep them down for quite a while. Mind, it reminds me of the Dilgar War we only hear about in Babylon 5, though there, the humans took the Dilgar back to their home system(and then their sun unexpectedly exploded...I don't believe that was an accident, but the series never says one way or the other).
