I just want you to know that I haven't made a youtube comment in like 3 years. I did this today and about a half gallon of water poured out. You are a gentleman and a scholar. I would've voted for you, you're making a difference in the world.

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. I just had the exact same problem with my 2013 Scion TC. I followed your instructions and it worked perfectly to fix the problem! If anyone watching this doesn't have the wire you used then I suggest using a wire hanger / Coat hanger. That's what I did and it worked really well. I cut the curved end of the hanger off to have a straight wire. I don't know if you have to cut the curved end off but I had some wire cutters handy so I did just to make it easier to slide in and out of the nipple to unclog it and it worked very well.

You helped me fix my car! I hadn't noticed the leaking until I started hearing what sounded like fluid shifting around when I braked or turned heavily. Upon further inspection, I noticed a wet floor mat on the passenger side, looked it up and just like you: the hose wasn't the issue, but once I cleared the gunk from inside the plastic container, tons of water drained out. Thanks!

Thanks bro for this video. Dealer was going to charge me 200 just to check the car. Quick and easy fix.
@wuchnessmonster18449 жыл бұрын
Just wanted to say thanks. Dealership told me this wasn't covered under my extended bumper to bumper warranty cause it wasn't their fault, and that they charge $70 to do it. You, sir, just saved me $70. Worked great.
@signorelli219 жыл бұрын
Chris Wucher Great to hear, I found that to fix the issue completely you need to buy a can of AC cleaner that you spray into the intake ports by the bottom of your windshield while the AC is on full blast, I forgot the name of the specific product but there are several of them available on Amazon, its basically a mildew remover. I also heard lysol works as well, lol.

From what I have seen a lot of TC's did not come with a cabin air filter. I did not discover mine was missing for a couple of years. Junk gets in the system, gets past the fan and into the ducts. Probably contributed to my clogged drain tube. Thanks for the video
@nt222175 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! This saved me a lot of stress and energy! I got my AC all cleared out. Probably 2-3 cups of water came out

I had the same issue. I googled it and your video came up. I took your advice and like a half gallon came out on mine aswell. This was super helpful and now my issue is resolved! AWESOME VIDEO.
@TheNomad19909 жыл бұрын
Hey you're right for the most part and the video helps. I had the issue before, had to bring it to the deal.. The manufacture kinda screws over the customer because they don't put an air filter in. The dirt is not coming up from the tube but actually coming in through the air intake for the ac so if the damn filter was there in the first place there would be no issue. If you actually got the dirt out, the filter will now stop it. It has nothing to do with the dirt coming up the the tube. Thanks for the video
@erickwik45316 жыл бұрын
Mike Camello I think your right, but that was a great trip/fix. ☮️
@bruceabernethy3046 жыл бұрын
This worked great! One thing I did different was before I put the drain end of the hose back thru the floorboard was zip tie a one gallon zip lock bag to the hose. Start the car, turn on the AC on high. The bag inflates if the hose is clear. Ran the ac for a few minutes and the bag started collecting water. Just a way to check and see if the hose is clear
@octocore9 жыл бұрын
Worked like a charm. I stuck a q-tip in there because that's what I had on hand and it started pouring out water.

This is still correct for a 2014 Scion tC. Just did mine today. Also, I used one of those flexible drain sticks that remove hair (Cobra, Zip-It, Green Gobbler, etc..). I did cut the tips off of the barbs so it wouldn't get stuck inside of anything. My clog was also at the outlet, not the hose. Once I knew the hose was clear I put it back in the floor board and cleared the outlet. As soon as I put in the drain stick water started flowing out as stated. I plugged the hole with my finger and then quickly put the hose back on. Lots of water came out of mine as well.

You sir, saved me so much time and frustration today! Thank you! Every morning when I go to work, I lay my laptop bag on the front passenger floor. Today when I when to take it out of the car, it was soaked. (Brand new laptop, too) I’ve been hearing, what I now know to be water swooshing around,every time I made a sharp left turn, for the last three days. First time I’ve ever run into this problem. Such an easy fix! Got about 30 seconds of straight pouring water into the shop vac hose. Now to let the carpet finish drying.

I have a Scion xB and this just started leaking for me yesterday. As soon as I took the tube out from the car frame tons of water started gushing onto the road!!! Something must have gotten stuck, probably when I was driving through a construction zone for 30 minutes. Thanks for saving me so much money on a Sunday when everything is closed anyway!
@1Watchmerock9 жыл бұрын

Late '00s xB here- exact same problem, and thanks to you I was also prepared with a pan to catch the water once I cleared the tank port with a coat hanger. You are a lifesaver, man- can't thank you enough.
@dennisjudd28145 жыл бұрын
My 2010 xB started making weird noises last week. Only when I was turning left though so I thought it was a stick or something. Kept getting worse and eventually even when I was slowing down to brake. This morning I drove it with no AC or fan and there was no noise. Then my son was all "eww something just dripped on me." Long story short I pulled it apart and even though I know some water was getting through when I pulled that plug like a gallon came out. Thank god I watched this so I had like 3 towels standing by. Thank you so much for making this video.

Spot on thx for the info. Drain in the box was plugged up just like yours was, used a straw to unplug it. Thx again
@markweintraut74205 жыл бұрын
Good video! The dirt comes from the air in the cabin over time. Mine had a crushed cabin filter, and a missing cabin air filter door. Since we frequent steel mills the extreme dust got past the filter and collected on the AC condenser coil, which in turn flushed down to the drain and plugged it. Toyota said to use a small like a straw brush, then I used like a turkey baster from advance auto meant for batteries to force distilled water into the coil to flush out the crap and corruption. Your helping a lot of folks! Good-on-ya mate! No I'm in Indiana. LOL
@bitwhacker8 жыл бұрын
This worked for my 2009 Scion XB! My filter was so dirty that I think it let in dirt to the heat exchange and plugged the hole at the bottom of the reservoir! If you use this fix then CHANGE the filter! Also, Please add XB to the description since this worked great for me too. Much thanks!

Great video, to the point, and explained very simply. Never personally fixed anything in my car, and was able to do this without issue. From start to finish (including glovebox and panel removal/replacement), it took me just under 15 minutes. I was a little hesitant at first, thought I'd break something or not put something back where it belonged, but it really is as simple as it looks. Definitely do recommend taking a bowl or bottle just in case the issue was the port, as it was with me. Thank you so much!
@michellee.65082 жыл бұрын
Yes agreed! I just did this in my 2012 and brought a catch pan with me and definitely needed it! Mine was the port but the line was real clogged as well. Needed a clean for sure

@thiszkidjay8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video but I do suggest one thin instead of pull the tube off completely and having to go get a bucket to catch the water. Do this: pull the tube off the floor and just blow in it (you should hear the water inside bubble) and put it back through the hole so the water could spill outside of the Car. Instead of picking at it with a paper clip and getting your rug even more wet
@LA_BROWN_BEAR5 жыл бұрын
in case anyone sees this video the filter protects the evaporator core from getting clogged with crap being sucked in, if you don't have a cabin filter any debris coming in will get stuck in the fins of the evaporator core and decrease its efficiency and clog the drain tube.
@derrickclark8 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Perfect fix. Did this in 3 minutes while in between deliveries. Be ready to replace the tube immediately,as a LOT of water will come out. I hate this 2013 Scion tC. Ashamed to call it a Toyota product. Glad it's a lease going away in two weeks. Door panel problems, gears grinding, trim breaking, load road noise.. it never ends and I only have 28,000 on it. Good riddance to a piece of trash.
