I just finished my final art project for my undergrad BFA, and I wanted to thank the tangents team for LITERALLY getting me THROUGH IT ALL!!!! I came here for someone else to acknowledge that jackalopes kind of actually exist (I have the pelt of one with a growth present on the skullcap area taxidermied over its actual skull rather than a model jackrabbit head with pronghorn antlers attached, and I am unreasonably proud of it since I've loved the mythological jackalopes since I was a kid and always played as if they were actually potentially real like cryptids and tiny me WAS RIGHT) and now suddenly everyone is singing. 24:10 As a veterinarian currently in post-doc training in zoo and wildlife medicine, I feel compelled to say that transmissible tumors are not actually that uncommon in the animal kingdom! This is particularly true of viruses, as many of them induce metaplasia that can easily transform and become neoplasia instead (either benign aka a growth or malignant aka "cancer"). Papillomaviruses, polyomaviruses, poxviruses, retroviruses, you name it. That's not even including things like feline leukemia virus which do not cause tumors but do cause malignant neoplasia. True clonally-transmissible cancers are very rare, but neoplasia secondary to some other form of transmissible disease i.e. viral infections is fairly commonplace. Please pardon the pedantic ramble!
