Ben had a lot of potential to be an intriguing villain if he was psychologically menacing to any of the descendants of people who were victims of Sarah Ravencroft and had a murderous reputation for silencing them along with descendants of the folks who turned Sarah over and testified against her during the trial. Especially when the elders of the village would condemn Sarah to be hanged.

This was a fun review, really loved the playful jokes heh.The only thing I have to slightly disagree on is calling The Hex Girls a "Goth band", I don't mean to be condescending or anything, I only say this as someone who is in the goth scene and has been for 15 years now and I also say this as someone who genuinely loves the Hex Girls (and still bummed that they never got their own spinoff show). Anyway, their last song "Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air" is not a "goth rock" song, just a simple alternative rock song. "I Put A Spell on you" was the only song that kinda slightly touches the goth sound (hint, the use of the "scything guitar" played in the verse 1 and verse 2 of the song). But overall they don't play goth rock music, even in the Mystery Inc. spin-off with "Trap of Love", it's just another fun alternative rock song with piano bits (I feel like Evanescence inspired it tbh lol). Also there is no such thing as an "eco goth", even to this day that line still makes me cringe because of how nonsensical it is haha. Anyway silly nitpick aside, awesome review. While the movie was not as eerie, intense or foreboding as Zombie Island was, it's still a fun classic that is perfect for the Fall season 😊

is goth not just interpretation. after all is it not just self expression? Also eco goth not being a "real thing" doesn't rly make sense cuz very very very very few bits of this film can be taken as reality

@@thebestpear To answer your question, no. Goth is not a "self-expression", at least not in the way you're probably thinking of it. The truth about Goth is that it's a music-based subculture centered around goth rock, deathrock, darkwave, ethereal wave, and coldwave music and the music was influenced by post-punk. The look that is associated with goth was influenced by the musicians within the music. Honestly there's a lot that goes into it but I actually made a video about this addressing the misconceptions. > kzbin.info/www/bejne/anjWpJ6PeqmaqKc And on the "eco goth" thing, all I mean is that it's not a real style in the goth scene and it's like what does that even mean? If it's them singing about nature, their song "Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air" is more a Wiccan type song and even with that, the movie got Wiccan wrong. You can't be born a wiccan, wiccan is a religion/spirituality that has no bloodline (lol). And a "warlock" in Wiccan religion is someone who was a witch who was exiled from their coven because of betraying their coven, Ben made no mention that he was in a coven.,And when you look into what witchcraft/wicca in how it really was perceived, them making Sara Ravencroft evil is just very distasteful lol. Again, I really do like this movie but I can't deny that it fumbled the ball in quite a bit of ways.
