I like the headcanon that Reluctant Werewolf and Ghoul School were in the same continuity. Dracula just kind of mellowed out after he and his wife had Sibella. (They either got their old wolfman back, or found a new guy who was more into the lycanthropy). It would add an extra dimension to Shaggy's apprehension at meeting the Ghoul Girls's parents. Not only was meeting Dracula just inherently frightening, but they had _history._

Ever since revisiting it, I'm convinced Ghoul School wasn't originally conceived as something for Scooby Doo. In fact, I think it was supposed to be a pilot for something original. Really think about it. No mentions of Mystery Inc or even anything even remotely close to solving mysteries from Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy, Revolta being a deliciously hammy Saturday Morning Cartoon villain this side of Skeletor, her incompetent Butt Monkey sidekick (always gotta have at least one of those if you're gonna be an 80's cartoon villain), the titular Ghouls themselves not having much in terms of character (PLEASE FORGIVE ME, SIBELLA, MY FIRST CARTOON WAIFU) and likewise for the cadets. All of this to me sounds like this was meant to be its own thing.

I really adore the Ghouls, they all feel cute and creative with their own fun quirks that fit in with their monsters respectively . Sibella uses her hair as a cape, Elsa is strong as all heck, Winnie walks on all fours most of the time, Phantasma's freaking laugh, tanis's wrapping unwinding constantly. There was alot of thought put into them tbh, and their voices really helped. They embrace them being monsters and keep them fun and adorable at the same time. Btw I completely forgot how much shaggy was so done with everything in the boo Brothers so thanks for reminding me. As a side note, someone has got to make a list of all of people shown attracted to shaggy / had dated him throughout the franchise. All the gang members have had occurances where they went on dates, had people crush on them, or dated someone briefly throughout the franchise. But shaggy definitely had the most and I have so many questions.

All the girls had their quirks that really do make them standout, and have a nice interaction with Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy. It's pretty easy to miss since it wasn't advertised AT ALL. And Scrappy doesn't really deserve the hate, I'll agree. He kind of just became the symbol of the decline Scooby was already in the middle of. He just ended up being the scapegoat. It's kind of Aquaman. Aquaman really isn't THAT lame in the comics (He got a arc when his main villain kills his son back in the 70s. Death of a Prince). It just became easier to lean into the joke, rather than refute it...thusly the live-action movie and other future references.

I remember liking The Ghoul School too... most of it at least! I loved the dynamic between the scaredey cats Scooby and Shaggy and the spooky girl ghouls (the Mummy's daughter might possibly be one of the most adorable things ever put to television), heck I even loved Scrappy's wide eyed innocence towards everything. However, literally every time it came on Cartoon Network, I remember just getting bored with it midway through. I enjoyed seeing the Volleyball game that they were building up, and I loved Shaggy and Scoob's reactions to meeting the famous Movie Monsters as fathers, but I always kind of felt like it should've just ended there! I honestly didn't care about that witch villain, and I was just losing interest at that point.

I always liked Scrappy and want to see him get another chance in the modern era beyond a joke. There's so much potential to his character that could be used as a base to expand upon, like maybe showing an origin for how his admiration for Scooby-Doo started. While Scooby is more afraid that Scrappy, fighting through that fear to take down the monster, even if it results in something that is hard to swallow, makes Scrappy see how good, devoted, and honorable his uncle is and wants to be like him.

My Scrappy-Do Experience was actually very similar to Billiam. I also really liked him as a kid. I actually remembered that when I started doing Baby's First Media Critcism and making OCs for my favorite cartoons, Scrappy-Doo was my go-to example of How to Properly Add a New Character to the cast. Because he filled a character niche that was not filled by any of the existing characters; all of the Scooby cast were either cowards or like... a Normal Amount of Courage. They didn't have anyone who was just recklessly brave. Plus the fact that he was a total character-foil to Scooby seemed like a really clever idea for me. Then I got to Online Nerd Spaces and saw everyone hated Scrappy and used him as a shorthand for Bad Characters so, being a middle-schooler who desperately wanted to to fit in these Cool Nerd Online Spaces I was just kinda "Well, I guess I was kinda Dumb as a kid! I even liked Scrappy-Doo haha" and didn't really think about it all that much. After watching these videos, I think Billiam has challanged *both* of my outlooks on the character. On one hand, I now understand how there were more issues surronding Scrappy-Doo's introduction than just the 'he's annoying and Bad' stuff everyone keeps repeating. Even if his personality didn't overlap with anyone, his role as the one who pushes Shaggy and Scooby into danger *did* overlap with the roles of... all the rest of the Mystery Gang. And so his addition to the Gang was yet another step in pushing Fred, Velma and Daphne out, which was a net negative to the show overall. But also I don't think these problems are inherent to Scrappy's character. I think the popular framing of him as just an ill-concived character that can never be redeemed is super-unfair and I think it's very unfortunate that even the franchise itself just see him as a mistake and a punchline.I actually think it would be very easy for a Scooby Doo show to 'fix' Scrappy. Really, what you would need is 1. Give him a cuter, younger-sounding voice. Make it clear that he is a puppy and not a weird tiny man. 2. Emphasize how Wholesome and sweet his hero-worship of Scooby is 3. Make him a recurring secondary character rather than a permanent addition to the core cast If there was a good Scooby Doo that did all of these things, Scrappy-Doo could become a very likable part of the Scooby-Do Lore - but I am afraid that became of the memefication of Scrappy-Hate, we might never see it.

."ain't no laws when you're drinking claws baby". Favorite line in the history of the channel Bet it takes so many white claws to fill up that gallon water bottle. Billiam filters them through Brita filters to clean up the distilling and give them a white claw/ gummy shark flavor he's come to know and love.

At this point just get a camelbak. Trust me when I used to to drink a ton they are super handy and really not inconvenient at all you don't even know they're there. Other than the backpack strap with 20lb of water that you're toting around ... It's like toting nothing at all... Nothing at all... Nothing at all. Stupid sexy Flanders Instead I just put a really long hose on it so that I could reach it from the office. As long as no one was stepping on it since I had to drape it along the sidewalk every morning on my way to work. 10/10 would recommend 👍

These movies with scrappy as well as The 13 ghosts of scooby doo is the MAIN reason why I loved Scrappy so much. He can be a good character if he’s put with the gang and done right. It just seems like Hannah Barbara just doesn’t know how to write him yet and it’s really unfortunate and unfair to him as a character. Also, the way Shaggy says “squish squash” in ghoul school is the exact reason I say that all the time.
