Dear Nikolas and team, Just finished part 2 and, as with Part 1, I am absolutely amazed by the production value and overall care that you have put into this piece. The basis of every film is the script, and I can tell this one has been prepared with the utmost dedication and care. You have been able to explain in a clear and concise manner what is often difficult to describe with words. Congratulations!! From what I can tell, there is some disappointment regarding the view count. Despite all the wonderful comments, It’s a bummer, I get it. However, it would a pity to not see a Part 3 or, most importantly, more videos from you guys. If it serves as constructive feedback, I think the length has been a factor, but you probably know that already. Particularly, there were perhaps too many comparisons. I’m a nerd too, and I enjoy side-by-side views, but there is a point that once you reach it, it gets a bit repetitive. (Like with the uncanny valley effect, we’re amazed with the progression, but once you get to a certain point, it’s not enjoyable anymore. Hope you get the metaphor). I got to this point when we reached the adapters section (SLR Magic, etc). Also, I understand the desire of letting others speak (the Atlas guys, Tito and Dick), but the real charm in these videos is you, Nikolas, your wit, your sense of humor, the way you expliain things in a horizontal manner, how you share your opinion. YOU are one of the key aspects that makes the Media Division content FAR better than so many others out there. Cheers from a new member. :)

Hello Miguel, first and foremost that you very much for your support, We couldn't do what we are doing without the help of our members. Also, thanks you for engaging and making constructive suggestions. Yes, we have to consider this episode a failure in regards to view expectations and relevance in the relevant search criteria, at least if you put it in relation tho the work that went into it. Part 3 will come anyways of course… it will be way nerdier than this one. That is what we are trying to do here… go all the way down the rabbit hole. Our audience decides how deep they want to go, so I expect very low vies on SCOPE 3. If I learned one thing making films… you can't do it right for everyone. What you find repetitive is just not enough for the next person… and the comments reflect that. In the past I tried things because many suggested to do those… with horribly negative effects. "A camel is a horse designed by a committee" is a real thing. In the end I write and produce thing that I find appealing as I am the only critic I can really access and please. I have to bend to other peoples will in so many cases - this is the one project where I can express and answer for just by myself. In part, that is why I do this channel. Thanks again for your input.

I just came across this and am completely spellbound by the quality of this video. But what stuck out to me most was you all managed to get amazing looking results out of each lens tested, even the ones that were, on paper, more difficult to work with. I can't imagine that it would have been easy, but it was certainly inspiring. Truly talented people, all of you!

Thanks a lot! That shows how little a lens matters in the whole mix of things. Same is true for the camera. You definitely don't need to spend a lot of money to get to a cinematic image. It will always matter more, what happens in front of the camera. The setups for this test are not specifically planned or set up to make lower end setups shine - they are set up in this way as I like how it looks. It is always a good start to put something pretty/interesting on screen, like the robot, the projector, the armour… and use a lot of back lighting.

Are you kidding me with this opening? Hilarious curveball. I want a BTS deconstruction of the thought process behind the decision to incorporate Magnum P.I.
@maximilliannewcombe17193 жыл бұрын
it was probably something to do with the moustache
@MediaDivision3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Junkie... for me it was kind of obvious with the moustache and that Magnum p.i. was on when Blade Runner came into cinemas. Of course and most of all... both are in the same part of my brain with childhood memories... I think that does it. We have a 1 minute VFX breakdown in the facebook group... if you are interested. I will upload that as a short on Yt later too

I am new to filming in general, my videos are just me walking about with a camera, complete newb stuff. But watching amazing quality film and just how outstanding results can be makes me think with a LOT and I mean a lot of effort that we can achieve some fantastic results. Your channel is excellent, makes me wish I were young enough to go to film school :) - watching your content makes me want to learn how to film better even with my limited canon Dslr gear or my old Sony HVR cam. Brilliant work guys.
@MediaDivision2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot... if it is any consolation for you... I was over 40 when I started taking filming seriously and I never went to any school regarding the subject. You are not too old, you are not too poor, you might just lack the confidence to jump........ and the strength to get up after that jump went nowhere again and again. You can do it... but be aware that muses are difficult brides. Good luck
