In this video I talk about scorch marks and how to get rid of discoloration in your garments. To me Scorch Marks means burning your shirt. Press Marks are Discoloration or indentations on the shirt. This isnt actual factual scientific research. This is just what works for me and how I handle this.

Thank you for the common sense explanation!!! I'm new to heat pressing and was worried about the large square of discoloration (15 x 15) after pressing for 7 seconds at 325 degrees. This was on Next Level 60 / 40 shirts.

when i first got my press and started pressing shirts, i really thought i was burning the shirts. when i went back to the shirt, the slight discoloration was gone, then it hit me, just wait until it cools down. also once i fire up my press, i usually don't start pressing for about 15 minutes later. this video has a lot of knowledge and tips.....appreciate you man

Hi Big Brandoh, I don’t know if you’re going to read this but for me, even though I’m using 100% cotton shirt, the light color pressed area won’t go away at all. -.- I have left it to cool for DAYs and even WASHED it later on, but nothing changed. The ‘light color press Mark area’ is still on the shirt even after washing it! I’m so frustrated at this point because a lot of the shirts do that. I use a temperature gun too and I have pressed it on low pressure and it very low heat, and the press Mark is still there and still visible after days and washes goes by. It’s killing me because I just want to enjoy designing and making shirts but I can’t because Im spending all my time trying to find a solution. I’ve done everything you said in this video many times and most times it doesn’t even help. Im just feeling really defeated at this point. A few shirts will be ok again, but most will just stay there even after being cooled off and washed.
@BigBrandoh
@BigBrandoh 4 жыл бұрын
i have no idea whats causing your issue. sounds frustrating. i press hundreds of shirts a week and never run into that issue. maybe the shirt is coated with something? does this happen with all shirts you press? or only certain brands?
@jouliek
@jouliek 4 жыл бұрын
@@BigBrandoh I’m using Gildan, Bella Canva, & some 100% cotton shirts I got laying around in my house to practice on. A few would be ok and goes back to normals, but then there are some that just doesn’t want to go back to normal. I’ve also used tri-blends and most of these triblends are like that even at the lowest heat setting. Im going to try experimenting more brands and see if it’s just the brand or just w-t-h it is that’s causing all these stresses.

@@jouliek Man if you found a fix by now please share because I'm having the same issue. 365 degrees or even 250 degrees. These gildan 1850 poly blend hoodies will not stop leaving a permanent shiny residue. IDK whats going on smh. its a 50/50 cotton poly blend in black

How did you clean off the press?
@richby309
@richby309 3 жыл бұрын
@@brwnmuslim while press is cold ,first use hot water and dawn mixed with a medium hard Bristle cleaning brush to loosen up the residue then I wipe it till it looks clean , but it’s still not clean tho , then I take old white shirts and put 90% alcohol on it and wipes until you don’t see any brown residue on the white shirt your using , them I heat the press up to 350 degrees and fold a towel into rectangle so it’s thick and heat won’t penetrate through and burn your hand , then I use another white shirt with alcohol and put it on the towel and whip the remaining residue off . You will see the white shirt will get less brown as you do this process and once u get to the point that the white shirt your using don’t get the brown residue on the shirt while whipping it on the hot press with the alcohol on it , then you know it’s ready ...this may take about 3 runs of old white shirts
