I grew up listing to the greats in SRV, Hendrix, Blackmore but we have a current legend living among us with Philip Sayce. Thank you!

You're right. Philip Sayce is an absolute beast!

Never heard of this guy until this video - glad I found him! Another check that needs to be written to TXBA! When he was first ripping into the song it almost looked like he wasn't using a pick when he was strumming - but I think he was because he was playing single notes. Anyway, glad to find a new artist to listen to and a new lick to try and master.

This Drummer digs it! Little bits of Jimi, little bits of Stevie, and a whole lotta Philip..... Thanks and Blessings!

Sayce is so awesome, great blues. Feel free to break him down as much as you like. I will buy courses on Sayce. I love SRV but Philip is modern and as you say not human. Steamroller, powerful thing and Morningstar have to be the best.

Those are my favorite songs besides out of my mind. My only complaint would be overplaying but hey that’s a rare gift when that’s what people say about you. He’s a super nice guy too in real life

Love this, it has the Hendrix chord in the Crosstown Traffic form and it has some jumping around the neck, it's also insanely fast. Great work again and he's obviously a great talent, going to watch Philip's version. - back after watching, there are some terrific slides in there, there's obviously a big Hendrix influence, there's Beatles in there, there's just a phenomenal amount of awesome guitar! Afraid to say I'd not heard of this guy, oh my ignorance, he's pretty damn good! Thanks for the tipoff!

Great choice! Sayce is an incredible player. What I like is that this lick actually sounds good slow. You can learn the lick and apply it right away. Over time you can speed it up and use it as a flash lick. Good job!

I know, right? Even at slower speeds it has such a great flow.

Great lesson Anthony! Philip Sayce did a hour interview on the Fender Play You Tube channel a few weeks ago. He was excellent.

Philip is the guitar wizard, not of this planet ... and underrated
@svenholsten16424 жыл бұрын
thx for that hint on philip sayce. he is absolutely worth listening. but there's one thing i wonder about your fingering. if you try to speed up by applying hammerings you should also swap alternate picking against economy picking. when i do the riff, i feel much more comfortable when i sweep pick the up and downward string movements and also apply an alternate change of the left hand middle and ring finger for the hammer-ons and pull-offs. then, it's fairly easy to reach the destinated speed ;)

There are many Texas Blues flavored pickup sets out there. Look at the Texas Blues Alley, Anthony has pickup review videos. To name a couple, Fender has the Tex/Mex set for around $99, Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials are around $175 a set, Mojotone Rene Martinez Texas Blues set are $299. I have the Lollar Dirty Blonde set in my Nash Strat. They sound great as well. Fralin, Seymour Duncan (Billy Gibbons Set) and many others make Texas Blues Pickups.
