The toy cars brought some dear memories and gave me the temptation to brought out my collection once more, which I gave into this morning on my day off. Every now and then I stick into the idea to buy a special case to store them, but I still like the old worn cardboard box. Thanks for taking time to show your findings.

Like the fact that Taco advised you to ask for group price on the cars!!!!!! We saw him a few times....... The black buttons look like they may be men's uniform buttons from shirts etc.... The cars are neat score and you never know which little vehicle will be the "cash cow" in the group!!!!!!!

Hi again, my 2 bucks worth of info...Separate out all the shell buttons, all the metal buttons and all the heavy plastics. Hang onto the oddly shaped plastics, the really big ones, the ones with rhinestones, bakelites. Keep glass, unusual colors and hang on to the jar with all the black buttons and strap adjusters. I think the black button jar holds vintage overhaul buttons and strap buckles so it will need to be checked out. The rest can go into jars, sold at the flea, regular jelly jars (I save them, I know junk are us) and the small jars for a dollar of so. Then you need to start sorting the ones you kept. You sew sets together with needle and thread or string. Start with the metal ones, military and ornate possible victorian ones sell especially well, pearl also does well watch for largest and tiny baby ones. Find all the extra big buttons and set to one side, they often sell for more. Then pick out the bakelite or other heavy older buttons and set to one side Now you're on your own...sort as you chose. If you should find unknown ones show to BBDave if you can't find them on line. Um, probably not the best place to confess this but I have two of the large Rubbermaid covered tubs filled with jars and vintage boxes of buttons. Many sorted into sets, sewn together or onto cards. We lost our local flea market so......anyway good luck.

I love them too . Three weeks ago I went over and picked up Kathy and on the street behind hers , was a yard sale . With nothing much to do that day , I say let's stop . Glad we did . I always go for the jewelry first and found two rings , both 14 k . One has a gold heart and pink rose on it .The other has a one half carat emerald with 12 smaller diamonds around it . O.K. , you sitting down ? Each ring was .25 cent each ! I asked the man if he was sure of the price and he said yes . I told him I thought they were worth lots more but he seemed more like , I got to get rid of all this stuff . Also bought two ladies wrist watches , 10 c. gold filled looks like from the 30s or 40s . Yes , .25 cent each .Also silver pendant on chain of 4 dolphins swimming in circle around green and black stone , .25 cent . Trying to stay away from sales and picking because I'm retired and selling house and moving on . Next year I will be here 50 years . Your good friend Vinny in good old Fla.

Renee, That looks like a GREAT score on the Buttons. I'll bet you could get that Cousin of yours to help dig thru them with you as a Treasure Hunt? Make it a Game..What fun. (I'll bet there are some Military ones in there too ) By the time you sort thru (and won't that be fun digging ) and find some matching unique or decorative 5 or 6 matching ones the those unique ones would probably sell for at least $5 for 1 bag on your Etsy so 1 single bag could pay for ALL the jars. I'll bet you find at least 4 or 5 really unique bags. A small sandwich ziploc filled with similar types or colors would easily sell for $1. You will find at least 30 bags of those as well.

@@PaperandMoose How I do this, is to strip off the old paint, Mask off the rubber wheels, before stripping! Carefully burnish out any minor dings with # 600 or finer wet or dry "sandpaper". I dampen the paper [water]. Let piece dry. Go over the entire piece with 0000 grade steel wool to remove the surface corrosion. Carefully remask the wheels with fresh tape. Prior to any painting, wipe the body with acetone, let dry...and try not to touch the piece with bare hands. Prime with gray flat primer, then finish coat. Let dry at least 24-48 hours between coats. Key is don't rush! The paint I use is Krylon spray paint that comes in a rainbow of colors, read the instructions on the can before applying. One more caution...do not mix brands of paint...use all Krylon, or if another, that brand. The real pros in this hobby use the airbrush...that's real dedication!

A little Tip Renee, when going to garage sales search for items you would not normally be looking for or have an interest in, or have knowledge of, specifically hand tools.(BIG money) Check the tool boxes or Stuff just loose tools dumped into boxes most of the time. (TacoStacks has mentioned selling these in His videos before ) Taco says he just scraps the off brand or no-name cheap stuff but look for ratchets and sockets marked " Snap-On" Matco is Premium too. *Craftsman is good (decent money) but not Premium like Snap-On. *Little story-I sold a single Snap-On ratchet for $70 yesterday, found in a storage unit. Had like 100 views in just 3 hours. About 400 views 16 hours later. Guys will PAY big-huge demand. Buyer originally made a counter-offer for $10 less. Wanted a discount. I had 24 hours to respond so I waited thinking SOMEONE is going to pay full price with all this interest. 4 hours later the guy who wanted the $10 discount paid FULL price himself because he knew he would miss out and someone else would get it.
@PaperandMoose4 жыл бұрын
I do know about Snap-On, but for me, the first thing I'm going to at sales is usually what I enjoy the most. Plus, I'd have to beat the line of guys rushing to the garage haha. But you never know, I could stumble upon some yard sale where a guy is getting rid of all of his tools and it could be my lucky day!
