Great review! I've been printing on my Q1 for about 6 weeks now and the only issues printing have been when I messed up in the slicer. From my flawless first layer test on day one, through 1.5kg of filament, to my most recent prints I have been super happy with the whole Q1 experience. Coming from a Voxelab Aquila v1 my life has gotten much easier; no more levelling every other print or worrying about filament run-out or tangles. Even the spool holder, which I dislike, does its' job... badly, but it hasn't dropped a spool yet so I can't complain. As soon as I hook up the carbon filter unit I printed I'm going to try printing ASA and see how the heated build chamber operates.

Really need to score after market support also. That's why I chose Qidi over Bambu. You may not have issues as a youtuber (they may all set you as a high priority), but looking over user reviews (and I also can vouch 1st hand for both), it does matter in purchasing a printer.

Just think about how many KZbinrs that would want to do that, and generate a bucket load of additional support tickets, which in turn would mean that real issues takes even longer to get solved. @@802Garage Ah the philosophy about others doing it then it is alright. If you want to see “blowing things out of proportion” look at your own reply there mate. Plenty of experience out there with customer service already if someone wants to know more about that. With that said, customer support can always improve, and in relation to Bambu Lab, I also do hope this improvement comes soon, as it has latest a long time now. But on the other hand if you have a great product, customer service will be less important, compared to a product where you will need support all the time. Still when needed, everyone of course wants a good experience. I just do not think a ton of fake issues will help end users. Of course if we could ensure that just LM acted as a customer service tester on our behalf, this would be 👍🏻.

Fair review, maybe am just harsh. Oh those fans. I think it’s the mainboard kicks in that is loud.Macros need refinement especially on max limit movements. I slowed mine down so now I just hear a light thud, instead of a violent crash. Otherwise I can not fault it. Am pragmatic I work with what is given (maybe it’s an Aussie trait of making do). From an engineering perspective understanding QIDI’s work flow processes makes each printer related task an easy experience. I have no issues with filament change process ( print out a Bambu tool), placement of the build plate (align the front corners), lid rubbing (5 mins in tinkercad), no door handle ( use original packing tape), filament dragged onto build plate at beginning of print (insert clean nozzle routine in machine gcode of slicer), touchscreen not responsive (most likely processing the previous command) document does state there can be a 1 second delay. Work with the Q1, it’s probably weird because you don’t understand it. QIDI have been actively updating and expanding resources the QIDI WIKI often for the Q1.

Those are all great fixes, and I’ll be honest, these should be done before it arrives at the customer. Times have changed, and not every person that buys a 3D printer should be expected to fix it. I don’t buy any other tools that I need to fix a list of problems before it works as intended. Now, additionally. I really like the machine and recommend it.

Another great review! Thank you for your videos! May I ask your opinion.. I'm new to 3d printing and I try to choose my first FDM printer. Mainly I'm going to print in PLA, PETG and maybe ABS and TPU. I'd like to have quality (for commercial production) prints, not just for hobby. I would go for an MMU system but my current budget doesn't allow me to do so. So, I am between the Qidi Q1 Pro and the Creality K1C, which both have also the potential for an MMU system in the future (if Qidi releases one, and if Creality's upcoming MMU system would be backwards compatible). Which of those two printers would you suggest? I am also open to other suggestions! :)

I spotted your PTFE tube attached to cable chain - was that a mod you made to deal with the top rubbing? You might want to add a point option for Privacy/Vendor Lock-in. Qidi doesn't require you use their own management/distribution system like Bambu. Along the lines of Vendor Support mentioned in other comments, you should mention Parts Availability - can you swap parts with readily available alternatives like other size nozzles, are they restricted availability by the maker, etc. It'd be cool to see a future review handle integration with an MMU option like 3dchameleon - then whether Qidi brings it or not, the option would be better explored.

If you’ve unboxed a $5000 machine, then you know what I’m talking about. The experience is far different. Shipping braces that pop off, clear, colored instructions for beginners on how to start - some companies put A LOT of money into the packaging, even making some retail ready, so it’s important not to hand out perfect scores to every hobby 3D printer, otherwise what score do you give a better unboxing experience. @@LoyalMoses of course. It's subjective and your idea of "packaging" might differ from my own. I was making a jest, but to me when unboxing literally consists of pulling the product out of the box and clipping a few zip ties, with no assembly required, that's a pretty easy unbox. I'm very pragmatic, the appearance of the packaging is irrelevant to me as long as it gets to my house as intended. Maybe if you're also judging packaging appearance as well then the category shouldn't be called simply "unboxing". To me that implies the literal act of removing something from it's packaging. Again sorry to sound critical, I wasn't at all, I found it amusing and made a joke.
