Michael Rules! Love his playing, he and ULI Roth are the template for all who shreds today, they were at the forefront of playing melodic scales very fast and influenced many! Even EVH.
Different styles, different sounds... different souls.. But both r equally great..

Uli's solo on this song on Tokyo Tapes is one of the best solos ever committed to tape. This, from Michael, comes very close - it's brilliant.

Michael's sound & ideas were all over the Lovedrive album....Much more than just 3 solo cuts....And the songwriting had Michael all over it.....Come on guys (Rudy etc)...Give Michael the credit he deserves.

this is no TT but a bootleg of the LD tour, just before disappearing 🤣
@crusheverything44492 жыл бұрын
@Kirk Scobey - Michael started the Lovedrive tour in Europe, but disappeared after a couple weeks when he realized he didn’t want to play other people’s songs and especially their solos. He started The Michael Schenker Group shortly thereafter, which provided the vehicle for him to write and play his own music and be the guy in charge.

Kojo no tsuki, ''The moon over the ruined castle'' Flowery feast in spring high up in the castle1 Cups of sake were passed around Lit by the moonlight through the old pine branches Where is that old moonlight now? Encampment in autumn was white covered with frost A number of geese honked as they flew across the sky The moonlight shined on the swords thrusted upright into the ground Where is that old moonlight now? Now at midnight the moon is right above For whom does it shine like in the past? Nothing remains on the rampart but some ivy Nothing to hear but the rustle of pine branches in the storm Up in the sky the moon and the stars remain unchanged But in the earthly life, rises and falls come and go Does the moon hang there to reflect those changes? Ah! the midnight moon over the ruined castle

@@ThomasTune82 - That’s not true about Michael. He left of his own accord a couple of weeks into the Lovedrive tour in Europe. He felt he didn’t want to play other people’s songs and other guitarists’ solos. He formed The Michael Schenker Group shortly thereafter, which allowed him to play only the stuff he wanted to play, i.e., his own songs. This stuff is well-documented.

@Chaiwat - It’s obviously an edited compilation of clips, set to a live audio version of the song. There isn’t much video of Scorpions from 1979 and there may very well be none with Michael Schenker from that tour, as he only lasted a couple of weeks before quitting to start The Michael Schenker Group.
