They have tried other music styles like hard rock, glam metal, or pop rock but that does not change the fact that there biggest legacy is in heavy metal music. Just because Scorpions does not sound like Slayer or Iron Maiden that does not make them less of a heavy metal band. It is heavy metal but not on the extreme side of black metal or death metal. It is a heavy metal from the 70s and 80s.

When the 1993 Scorpions album Face The Heat came out, I went to Tower Records and immediately picked it up! It was a different sound for them at the time. Going back to the early days and playing harder (and darker) tunes. I remember first hearing this song and thinking that it will definitely be a big hit! But like many other heavy metal/classic rock bands, grunge was occupying the top 40. An absolute crime that this song in particular was so under the radar!

Ну понятное дело сейчас он уже не будет рисковать. В своём то солидном возрасте. Тот факт, что песня была записана и исполнялась после двух операций на связках уже нужно респект кинуть. Не каждый после операций так круто петь будет. Тут дико сложная вокальная партия. Да даже сейчас он поет очень хорошо. Никаких возрастных хрипов, сипов. Тон и чистота голоса осталась такой же как раньше. Интонирует чисто. Единственное, что меньше стал рисковать и брать предельно высокие ноты. Ну это как бы естественно. Зачем слишком надрываться в таком приличном возрасте. Но на крайних двух альбомах голос звучит хорошо. И не скажешь, что Клаусу уже было 67 , а сейчас и вовсе 74

In 1990, songs from the Scorpions “Crazy World” album got a ton of MTV airtime (a lot of which being played into early 1992) with “Tease Me Please Me,” “Don’t Believe Her,” “Wind Of Change,” “Hit Between The Eyes” (Freejack movie soundtrack), & “Send Me An Angel.” When the “Face The Heat” album came out only 3 years later in 1993, I was so bummed that MTV noticeably gave “Face The Heat” very little to ZERO airplay! “Alien Nation,” “Under The Same Sun” (On Deadly Ground movie soundtrack), & this video; “Woman” were all MTV worthy videos of being played! At the time, I was a member of the Scorpions fan club mailer catalog/magazine. They had a form in their to fill out and send to MTV as sort of a campaign to get their videos played! This was at the time in the bands history when the mainstream music scene was just no longer backing them anymore, and instead were on to “bigger and better (newer) things.“ Resulting in a pretty big shift and (unjustified IMO) turning point in the bands popularity, especially in America. Which was a huge momentum killer heading in to their next live, and very good, album “Live Bites” in 1995!
