I'm impressed how you guys have the stereo sound image dialled in to match what I'm seeing on screen... Bravo! Now to begin hunting for Glenmorangie 18...

You guys finally gave me a reason to open my bottle. One of the reasonable priced 18 year old scotch ($99.99 in Chicago).

100 bucks US should be ok for this bottle. I wonder how it compares to the new travel retail Glenmo 19 which is ex-Bourbon cask only. :-) Btw, I guess it's pretty tough to get an old version of the 10 in the US, but I highly recommend you snatch an old bottling of the ten if you get the opportunity (90s, early 2000s). It features a really different bolder and spicier Highland style.

Glenmorangie does a great job with the pricing especially in today's Scotch market. If you're telling me this was between $125 and $150 over 6 years ago and I just checked and I can get this at my store today for $140 in today's inflationary environment 6 years later, that's a huge accomplishment in itself especially for an 18 year premium scotch. Great review!!

Awesome review guys! I would love this dram if it was non chill filtered and above 46%ABV! I get tons and tons of peaches and cream!

I love Glenmorangie 18 years. You don't get that in any other kind of Glenmorangie (10 yr , 12 yr). Only the 18 years is the best

Need to do some of this blind....have one of the 4 of you bring a bottle in that only he knows and do this same review but with the other 3 of you not knowing at all what you are drinking. And to give your rating before you find out any information on what it is.

Speaking of casks, don't Glenmorangie own a forest in America? They lease out the barrels made to one of their bourbon partners before getting them shipped to Scotland.

Well you guys finally reviewed a whisky I am familiar with. I thought you guys were very generous with your ratings. This is available in Northern VA for $99. Probably one of the least expensive 18 year old scotches on the market. That is a good thing. Colored, chill filtered and just 43% ABV work against it. I would best describe this scotch as mild-mannered. It didn't have a particularly long finish. Another tic against it in my book. The whisky has potential, it just seems so mundane. nothing terrible mind you, but nothing that says "yea baby." To be frankly honest I think Deanston 12 or sadly the retired Old Pulteney 17 (which was at a similar price point) to be a much superior dram. Hell, Glenlivet 18 or the 15 are better IMHO. While I got the notes you guys have, they quickly fade when I drink it. If I want to spend around $100 or so, I would rather buy something else. I am not going to replace this bottle when I finish it. Too me this is its biggest sin. I don't want to go out and replace it when I finish it. If this was 12 year old, and priced accordingly I might consider it, but to me this is like a basic Dalmore (except less expensive). This is sad since I think the Glenmorangie 10 is a great value scotch and had strong expectations for this one.

I am with you, for me to a degree it comes down to personal preference regarding smooth, elegant, pleasant to drink versus bold, exiting, characterful, and a bit edgy. From all I've heard from friends, the 18 would be too tame and "domesticated" for me, too streamlined like many top dollar blends. That said, I could imagine buying a 18 cask strength if affordable. :-) Btw, I really liked the Nectar d'Or and its sibling Quinta Rubin @46% abv before the price jump a few years back.
