The 3 points are welcome, but Scotland have been struggling for a while with bad passing, lack of basic ball control, poor decision-making and a nervousness that chokes every match they’ve played recently. Many of the players seem frightened to force the play and resort to the safe sideways pass. The disastrous Ireland defeat at Hampden and more recently, the England hammering still haunts these players. The small crowd tonight suggests a temporary return to Motherwell could refresh the atmosphere and restore the team’s confidence.
