Join us on our stunning motorcycle camping trip to the Outer Hebrides, 5 big bikes go to Vatersay (Barra) our starting point of the Hebridean Way then work our way north to Butt of Lewis Lighthouse the other end of the Hebridean Way, weather was a bit mixed for the summer of 2023, but hey it's Scotland, if its not raining it a bonus.
Bryan returns a year after a life threatening illness to achieve a lifelong dream of riding the Western Isles, braving the chilly waters of Luskentyre beach to fulfill his goal, this is a must watch motivational section of the film that will appeal to everyone not just bikers, his determination in managing recovery with a temporary Stoma bag and his emotive campire speech is a must watch👊🏻👌🏻
Bryan’s bike was off the road so he borrowed my BMW R850R, the old workhorse was pulled from the garage, checked over and performed flawlessly. The crashbars were fitted especially for Bryan😂😂
This trip nearly didn’t happen due to the ferry from Barra to Eriskay having technical problems, it was only confirmed at 11pm the night before we left that it was indeed possible. This trip had to go like clockwork to work, we were at the mercy of Calmac which has been troubled recently to say the least, we were probably only about 50% confident that this would work, weather forecast was also pretty poor up until the day before. Thankfully everything came together and it turned out to be one of our best trips yet.
If you enjoy this video then please give a like or even better please subscribe for more and help me grow my channel , please leave a comment, I always try to answer all comments , good or bad👊🏻😂
Part 2 will be from Ullapool to Glasgow camping at Gairloch and coming home over the Bealach Na Ba (Applecross) in some terrible weather which defo made it interesting. I will also be editing two videos of a sunny Bealach na Ba very soon.
Yet again a few swear words so not for kids.

What a super video ...great scenery and locations that reminded me a bit of Ireland!. Big respect to Brian...what a tough time he has had. The footage of him braving the water was emotional...I'm sure many of us so called ' tough ' bikers felt the same! Great stuff, and look forward the next one. Cheers Steve 💚

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for a great comment, yes very similar to Ireland at times. Yeah Bryan has had a wild year but bikes have certainly helped him get through, the Luskentyre beach section is a really emotional section for a lot of people, so glad I could help share that on the edit.

Absolutely brilliant vid , love it 👍, Brian well done to you for following your dream and coming out the other side of your illness, I do hope you make a full recovery, you guys could not have made a better choice on taking the trip to the outer Hebrides, wow what a stunning place and the people are so friendly, it’s like going back in time when you could leave your back door open , love the place, i did a similar trip myself in 2017 and returned in 2018 with 4 of my very good friends, Brian fair play to you for getting into the water, the beaches are so beautiful but the water is cold, I plan to return in the next yr or two with my son on this same trip to the islands on the bikes, I’m originally from Barrhead but now living in the Cotswolds, I wishes you all the best in the future and thank you for a brilliant vid , cheers guys 👍👍

Thank you so much for your kind words. I went on to make a full recovery after reversal of my stoma.. which I am so grateful of the chance I got, and so grateful to everyone who helped me through it all.. not forgetting John and the lad's on this trip, without them, this trip wouldn't have been possible and as I say, esp John for putting together this amazing edited video. I still get emotional watching it back. That day in that water was the start of my now, Cold water therapy journey. I've not stopped going cold water swimming, dips under waterfalls or ice tanks at 0°c from I healed up after coming out of hospital. Actually push myself everyday and consistently.. I'm now on day 143 in a row, Cold water exposure.. This was a start of the rest of my life, this journey.. And I will never forget it. Thanks again. Take care.. your comments are very much appreciated.

Inspirational video (not just the bike ride and scenery). We all forget whats really important in the daily grind of modern life and all its drama...... life itself and being well.... the most incredible free gift any person can have. Love Scotland by mcycle, have yet to do the islands but not for much longer .... 😉 Bryan's illness has given him the opportunity to really treasure life now (something he maybe didnt do before ? ) its funny how it works out sometimes, almost like its been shown to you ... 👍

Thank you very much for the kind words. This means a lot to me, and you're 100% correct in what you say, too... you need to treasure the time you have as you never know the minute. I was very lucky to fight through my illness, and I am so grateful for the chance I now have to live a healthier and better life ahead. Now fully recovered after reversal surgery of my stoma and trying to get back to full fitness and keep myself healthy and fit. That's all we can do. I will never ever forget this trip we did, as it really holds a special place in my heart. Every time I watch this video, I get emotional.. so thank you so much for the comments. Take care

What a glorious memorable trip for you all and I'm glad you got some dry days in between the rain. Some stunning beaches and lovely roads both of which seemed very quiet considering it was Summer. Thanks for watching and leaving a great comment, the ferries can be cancelled very quickly on the outer Hebrides so have a back up plan, we made it by the skin of our teeth as we had cancellations days before and the same route went down days after we returned to the mainland, if you get the weather then you won’t regret visiting. I hope your trip is as memorable as ours.👍🏻
