I slept in this building back in 1979, it had a roof then. We were camping in an upstairs room, a board placed in the window fell inwards on top of my friends head, it had been there for a while and without being touched or shook it fell…we only found out the next night at Ossian that it was haunted.

Another excellent video ray and nice to see you still battling with the bike packing!! - you soon learn that there are significant limitations to where you can go and what kinda ground you can cover on a bike no matter what type you've got, still we have fun trying - fortunately my best fails never made it to youtube 😀- I've got a route in mind round that area but I suspect it will have to wait till next year now with the fading light... - had my eye on that tent.. looks like a solid 4 season one man effort.. just the price... maybe I'll spring for it anyway... how do you find it weight wise? I think its advertised as 1.7kg? reasonable if it is the bombproof 4 season tent its proclaimed to be... ummm decisions....
@RS.Outdoors Жыл бұрын
We did hit a few limitations on that trip :) More so with Murray's bike which is ancient and the brakes failed on way down the hill in morning. Had to stop and keep waiting for him as he used his boots to slow down, lol. Great area but track is really rough made from very large pieces of gravel which was more like boulders. Was really surprised I hadn't knacker a tyre. Atb

Hi Ray Great video with some superb shots from the drone. Your route from Grey Mares Tail is a tough climb on foot without pushing bikes up it!! @RS.Outdoors Жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Yes thats the way we come down and would be a bit of a slog up as well mind you. Been a while since I had been in that area and my recollection of how steep that side of the hill was had faded :) Murray did say why dont we go the road route, lol. Atb
@Elfin4 Жыл бұрын
11:51 That is a beautiful place adjacent to the river, with fantastic views. That sleeping mat is as you say expensive at £108 as are tents to be fair. Probably why I haven't bought a tent as don't fancy paying £500 for a tent that is only guaranteed to stay waterproof for 3 or so years. If I buy a Gortex waterproof coat I expect it to last at least ten years or more so don't understand how a tent manufacturer can't provide better warranties given waterproof jackets are used every day in winter but a tent would only be used infrequently.
@RS.Outdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks for wathcing and as you say prices and warranty can be an issue. Based on current costs folks really need to look at how often they will really go out and use the gear to justify spending so much. Atb
@Elfin4 Жыл бұрын
@@RS.Outdoors Yeah I really understand and agree with what you say on costs etc. It's a shame as I would really like to go out camping but I don't have a two-person tent as I would want space for me and my German Shepherd and perhaps my son. I have a good Snugpak Softie 10 for when Im on overseas duty but I just can't afford to pay 400 - 500 on a 2-person tent when I would probably only use it 3 or 4 times a year.

I would say yes strange that you both have battery issues . I can believe the sound of dear could put people on edge. But I was on my own in a remote roadside location recently, and I got frightened. I parked up in my van , many years travelling around the highlands I have never got more frightened! I only stayed a few minutes! Just north of Loch Ness . Just a woodland area , no habitation. No houses just woodland. Well I heard sounds like a Bigfoot documentary in Alaska wilderness. Strange nocking notices , and barking like noises but not barking like dog barking . It was about 2am that I pulled on at the side of this road and A road . No habitation just woodland and forest . I left this place within minutes , I was scared! I pulled up beside this road as I was tired, travelling over night from Oban to Kyle of Lochalsh in September 2023 . From ferry from mull that got into Oban about midnight . Needless to say I later found a suitable stop to get my head down for a few hours , undisturbed.
