A few years ago, I had a truly unsettling experience while “camping” in the woods with just my minimalist survival pack (no tent). In the middle of the night, I was abruptly awoken by weird eerie moans and scratching sounds. Initially, I believed it was a lingering dream, but when the unsettling sounds persisted, this time just about 10 feet away from me, I knew it wasn’t my head playing games. I reached for my flashlight and directed its beam toward the ground, partially shielding it with my hand to control the light. I started scanning the area, convinced that some wild animal was lurking nearby. However, when I fully illuminated the surroundings, my heart sank. There was nothing there - no animals, no moaning, no scratching. Absolutely nothing. It was as if the mere presence of the light had silenced the enigmatic sounds. Until this day, I can’t explain what I heard that night.

As a field tester for a Carp fishing bait company, I'd be night fishing, five out of seven every week for nearly three years, from Cornwall to Northumbria on some of the most isolated lakes in the Country. I've seen and heard some really confusing and frightening things, from multiple UAP sightings, being assaulted by a bloodied woman speaking in tongues, two suicides by drowning, to floating apparitions. If it hadn't been for my old German Shepherd being with me, I could have packed up and gone home many times over. Things can get very scary with the lights out.

There was a spate of burglaries in the neighbourhood where I lived so you can imagine my reaction when I heard similar sounds coming from my garden. Worse still, it sounded like someone trying to be stealthy, moving slowly towards my back door. I was on my own so too scared to look out of the window in case they clocked a lone female was in there. So I called 999 and the police came round. And the police got quite excited too when they heard it. Total hot fuzz moment as the one copper vaulted over the side wall to catch the suspect. Then he came back in laughing his ass of and said I should come look. It was a bloody hedgehog. I felt so stupid but they were really nice about it - even admitted they thought they were hearing some dude creeping about.

You have got to trust your instincts. When I was about 11, I was fishing at a lonely spot on the Thames. I’d been there hundreds of times, but I kept hearing strange noises in the woods all around me. I remember saying to myself - pull yourself together- but I just kept hearing things moving and it just didn’t feel right. This went on for a couple of hours, and then I thought I saw somebody sat at a crouch rubbing sticks together beneath a tree about 50 yards to my left. I rubbed my eyes - they were gone. Sod this I thought - chucked my gear in my rucksack and heading to the path out of the wood. Then, a young man emerged from the wood - walked up to me -and said “ did I scare you?” “No” I lied. He smiled , and walked away from me - disappearing into the wood. I cycled home as fast as I could. But I never breathed a word of it in case I wasn’t allowed to go again. Moral of the story - there are some crazy nuts about. If you don’t feel comfortable- get the hell out. Discretion is ALWAYS the better part of valour. You did the right thing.

Wtf they're doing there is a mystery. Is lurking a hobby or something. Both times they've set off walking after me until I've given them a piss off type of glare. Obviously they're allowed to be there, as any of us are in the countryside, but they give off such a weird vibe. If they want company why not try and find it in town? Weird as hell that they're in such out of the way places though, it's never made any sense. They were dressed in modern clothes so I don't think they were ghosts

@@VMM34 Predatory behaviour. Too many people in the world and all living in too close a proximity... Primate species like ourselves were never evolved to live in the massive social groupings we now do and have moved gradually towards since we adopted agriculture in the Neolithic- this has lead to wealth differentiation and inequality, then class systems- elites/ the exploited, then oppressive social controls, then the long term effects of the unnaturally massive number of people you have to deal with every day- many of whom you would choose to have nothing to do with- creates frustrations, stresses and obsessive ideas that lead to negative behaviours, antisocial and personality disorders and ultimately murderous predators... We were never supposed to live the way we do and it makes some people very sick in the head, or unleashes a propensity for violence and cruelty that they might otherwise never have indulged. It is the lifestyle we force on our populations... this unnatural social structure that benefits a tiny minority of wealthy elites through the mass collective production of the people they oppress and exploit- 'willing slaves'- this is the root cause of the huge increase in mental illnesses observed in 'developed' modern, urban societies like the west and parts of Asia and the East. Having lived in various other countries, many extremely poor and poorly developed, I have always observed that the more simply communities lived, and the less they went above around a thousand people you would have to be around or interact with every day, the happier and healthier people seemed to be. Cities and towns? Always the reverse, regardless of the language or culture.

Had a similar experience myself. Fishing in the northwest, on a secluded shingle beach, only one way on and off the beach. Fished all day, not a single soul came onto the beach all day, fished into the night and had a little fire going in a little cove in the cliff face, sitting there chilling waiting for the fish to bite, cant see past the light of the fire. All of a sudden, really loud steps running through the shingles past me less than 10m away heading towards the trail off the beach up into the cliifs. The most scared ive ever been in my life, reeled my rod in so fast you would think it was battery opperated, scaled a 300ft cliff trail in less than 5mins and sprinted back to the nearest town. Resesrched the area later and found out there is a shipwreck there where numerous people died in 1879. This was over 15years ago and ive never been back there.

as a teenager in the Ozark mountains in the US I was in the woods and just over a small rise I heard clear as day someone walking towards me. I was nervous but waited to see who it was. It ended up being a box shell turtle, about 6 inches across, it made enough noise to be a person. When your in the woods alone our imagination can amplify sound. We all clearly heard what you heard, and I don't have an explanation for you, the fact it didn't pause when you called out makes me think wildlife. Learning the different wildlife sounds helps us to understand. A fox call or an owls scream at night can raise the hair on your neck if you don't know what the sound is. Thanks for sharing.

Jumped out within seconds, nobody there for far as i could see, later on in the night someone was singing in welsh, like an old mans voice around my tent, obviously bricking it but definitely thought someone was there, so again jumped out shined my torch in every direction shouted out, walked around, again nobody there. Then early hours i heard dragging noises all around me and it went on until dawn. Never will i be going back there to camp in that area. I once had a frightening experience: I found a wonderful place on a kayak tour: a small steep bank and behind it an old beech forest up to the edge. These beech forests always remind me of cathedrals with their tall, columnar trunks and arching canopy of leaves. At that time I had a hammock with me, which I could ideally hang up between the beeches; behind me the forest and in front of me the view over a fjord-like bay. But I woke up in the middle of the night, convinced that several figures cloaked in black were standing around me. I couldn't utter a sound, nor could I move. When I finally managed to sit up in the hammock, nothing was to be seen, and there were no footprints in the sand, but I was scared to death. After the tour, I drew my route on an old (paper) map as a reminder and what I read there left me speechless: The forest had the ancient name "fairy forest" and the small path through the forest was called "ghost path"! Because the place is so beautiful, I've stayed there two more times. But now I've touched a tree upon arrival and "signed in" with a friendly greeting and asked for shelter for the night. After a restful and trouble-free sleep, I said thank you, said goodbye and moved on. Believe it or not - there is more between heaven and earth than we can imagine...

That sounds exactly like a sleep paralysis experience, which some will say is just something your brain conjures up in that half asleep state but looking into it I cant say for certain that these dark and sometimes evil feeling figures that everybody seems to see arent actually there in some way. Why dont people ever experience any kind of positive beings or entities around them? It's always dark/demonic looking or feeling. Many people also claim calling upon Jesus was the only thing to get them to snap out of it and as soon as they did the figure vanished and they could move again, even people who arent necessarily Christian or religious.

I agree, no point in being there if unsettled. Nerves or anxiety are there to keep us alive. I listened on headphones, eight steps after he said "hello" in the first instance. It may well have been someone walking in the undergrowth or even a loose limb swinging, although there was no sound of wind. Sounds carry, but the site being so close to an urban area, it could have been a person walking close by. Who knows, nevertheless he made the correct decision IMO. I love Dan, I love how he shares what he is thinking, so natural, a great character. He needs a companion or a dog. Maybe he should head further into the countryside, too many seem to use that woodland for parties etc. Pity they wouldn't clean the site before they leave. Anyways, I suggest Dan read the instructions on the noodle packet, always put the dried veg in with the noodles at the beginning, I would also put the spice in there too. He deserves a break. Would love to see him go out with Kent Survival for fun and maybe something other than noodles. Thanks Dan for another great video.

Always listen to your instincts even if it feels silly. Better safe than sorry. I would have moved either right away or as soon as I was finished eating while there was still light, with my senses on high alert for sounds of being followed. Those first two times were definitely human footfalls and they sounded like they came very close. What was creepy was they sounded like they came right up to you and then just stopped - they didn't fade in or fade out. I suppose that could be because they stepped from the grass to a path. But then not responding when you said hello, that would have spooked me too and made me feel like I was being watched.

When we, my hiking buddy and myself, both of us women, were stopped at the trail head. 2 not so friendly looking men started a conversation with us. In that conversation they asked a red flag question. “Does your family or anyone close know you’re out here?” Made me very uneasy but we continued on. Hiked as far as we wanted for the day and set up camp. Late in the day as dusk drew close, I got that “feeling” makes your hair stand on end feeling. I trusted my gut and knew we had to leave immediately. We left everything. Took an alternate route back to the trailhead. Got in my jeep and came back down the mountain and stayed in a cabin for the nite. Need to say that when we got to the trailhead those not so likable guys’ truck was there. We went back next day to retrieve our gear and their truck was gone. Got to the camp site and tent was sliced. Everything was gone thru. If it was a bear the food would have been the first to go and bears don’t have knives. Trust your gut!

That is so bizarre I had an encounter years ago when I would visit woodland with friends from school, there was eight in our group and this particular part of the woods had massive electric pylons running through it always felt odd every time we visited almost you felt like being watched. It was a Sunday in 1998 we ventured out and walked to said spot and we decided to settle down and chat and we all heard a branch break and then the footsteps towards our location, it was so close we even kept looking for the long grass to flatten down as it literally sounded ten to fifteen feet away. Four of the lads legged it as it was bloody weird, I stayed and waited and it seemed to subside but not fully going away but when you put you're hand out in front it felt like static almost like when touching an old TV screen and a smell of something like a pencil. It's been so long since we had that experience and it was incredible and something all eight of us have never forgotten after all this time.

This does have a logical explanation. I used to work as an engineer at a MRI factor. Think huge magnetic fields around about 1.5 Tesla. It was known that _some_ people are sensitive to EM fields. High fields (such as around the pylon) cause feelings of dread, anxiety, something being a bit 'off'. This can also happen with infrasound (frequencies less than 20 Hz). Hope this helps. You must be one of the sensitive ones. (I am too)

I'm from the UK and used to go camping in the fairly regularly in my 20's (maybe 75 to 100 times). Often it would be in various local woodlands in Nottinghamshire. I've encountered may things on those camping trips including the typical woodland wildlife like badgers, deer, foxes, hedgehogs and even a sheep that had escaped from a nearby field and decided to chew on my tent, one trip. However, those noises in the video didn't really sound like any typical wildlife that you'd encounter in woodlands. A deer would probable sound the closest to it, however deer are extremely skittish and wouldn't come anywhere near that close to you. Like many have said, it sounded exactly like a human would sound, while walking around in woodland (bi-pedial and large9). The footsteps also sounded very close by (within 15 feet or so). Honestly, that was creepy as Hell, TBH. I definatly would have done a Scooby Doo very soon after it happened. BTW, I've also had 2-3 spooky & unexplainable things happen while out camping. One where I had several fairly large stones thrown against the sides of my tent, while I was camping on a barren and fairly remote stretch of moorland. I had clear sight for around 200 yards in every direction, however nobody at all was around. I also had another whilst camping around 75 yards away from the side of a old abandoned rail track in the Peak District. The tracks on the embankment had long since been removed and it had been turned into a bridleway/footpath instead. However, that night I was abruptly awakened, by the very clear and distinct sound of a Steam Train travelling down that very same abandoned track (it even faded in and out as it passed by). Again I didn't really hang around.for very long at all, after that happened

I would be wary of woods now. I was followed getting on for 3 miles down a woodland path. I could see down the path & the trees around me were too skimpy & narrow to hide anyone. At first I thought it was just a person approaching me gradually along the path but the footsteps got nearer & nearer sounding & then I could also hear someone breathing. I thought I was just freaking myself out with the sound of my own breath, so stopped suddenly & briefly 3x & held my breath but the footsteps & breathing continued. This was during daylight hours. By the time I neared the gate out of the woods at the end of the trail the thing was only a few feet behind me, but there was nothing to be seen. I was walking gradually faster & faster all the way, terrified that an invisible arm would suddenly grab me from behind. Puffed I was but I didn't stop till I was out of the gate, across the road & within a few steps of the houses on the other side. I looked back at the path I had come down but there was nothing to be seen, not a movement, nothing, but the footsteps had been heard clearly all the way.

Weirdly, I’ve experienced exactly this. But around midnight in an open field, well away from civilisation. Low visibility due to the dark. But I was just able to make out the distant hedges. Yet footsteps began coming towards me in the damp grass. I was straining to see something as they got closer, but nothing was visible. When they we’re almost on top of me I turned and walked out of there (resisting the urge to run)

I used to work nights so when I got home I would take my husky out while it was still dark - while walking once I heard what sounded like footsteps behind me - I stopped looked back - nothing - so carried on walking - then I heard the sound again . Even the dog turned around and looked behind so I knew it wasn't imagination - I decided it was someone creeping around so retraced my steps and stood there listening . Then out of the dark I saw what it was - it was leaves falling from the trees and landing on the already fallen leaves .So funny I laughed . I don't know what your sounds were but if you're in the least bit bothered - move out while you still have the light - better safe than sorry . Nothing wrong with being bothered - sometimes instinct kicks in and better to trust your instincts .

I went fishing once behind a cemetery you have to walk through then through a woods and onto the river ,the noises I heard that night will haunt me ,I had to ring a friend to follow me down and walk out of there with me ,,I'm scared of very little but that feeling was the worst ever,I froze, was so scared like something went through me ,,so I don't blame you at all for being nervous,,I'd have been gone after the 2nd set of footsteps 😂

Nothing to be ashamed of buddy. I once drive 35 miles, with a full pack, hiked an hour into the mountains, looking for a lough to camp beside…..the fog was so so thick that I couldn’t see more than 10ft in front of me, I found it eventually but didn’t see a single person or hear one then entire hike and the car park was empty. The entire atmosphere was off…..the fog dulled everything down so there was literally no other noise except my breathing and footsteps, I made a coffee and unpacked my gear, not sure what I should do, I was about the throw the tent down so checked for sheep shit……found a bright shiny pound coin just laying there in the middle of nowhere ……i had about 10 mins to decide what to do or it would be too dark to hike out. The feelings of oddness abs fear were just too much…..I packed up and began the hours walk back and hour and a half drive home feeling like a wimp….got home and enjoyed the heat and cuppa tea at about midnight, lol. Maybe me really question if wild camping was for me. I my mind I was saying, maybe I just think I like wild camping but in reality I don’t, lol. But I’ve been out again and it’s been fine. Just one of those place where something ain’t right, I get laughed at all the time for things I talk about that I’ve seen, strange stuff. There is definitely more going on that we know about, and our brain knows it, tells us to get the hell out of there. You’re braver than me man. You’ll bounce back better than ever. Mark, ireland.

I have a bit of a phobia of fog and if I was in that thick fog, I would have panicked. I’m Canadian, and growing up I had a teacher who would tell us stories about the “old” days. She would tell us how some ppl ran off bc they didn’t want to go to war so they were out there, living in the bushes and never seen. She told us about how a young girl was taken while there was a heavy fog. They never found her. To this day, out in remote areas where ppl have to pass through to get to their hometown, ppl see someone out in the distance then disappear as they get close.

The footsteps (I’m only half way through the video did seem creepy) Hope you enjoy your break and looking forward to looking back at your videos and hopefully others to follow. Best wishes From another Dan.

Ahh but that could be bcs. Of your place is having some bad energy or visitor… I used to live in apartment like that. Exactly like that.. you couldn’t leave at night one room without having lights on in another… I get tears in my eyes just remembering that, not from being said, but from being scared in the way, when you feel you are not alone. From every dark corner at night you literally felt evil👻🤣 it was horrible

Hello I just found your channel today and I’m so glad i did, I personally don’t like camping ..though I don’t mind watching others camping,I do like the outside, the woods etc ..I can’t do much walking these days sadly ,so I do enjoy watching these kinds of videos and have something a little paranormal happen is a very big plus in my book too.. Paranormal is my favourite thing to watch.. Anyway back to your experience, that was definitely someone one walking and it was very close to where you were sitting.. I would almost definitely say if it was a person you would have seen them and would have answered .. So I would say you had a ghost walking past you , it’s probably happening regularly in that spot ..

Camping with my then partner I woke to see him sitting bolt upright in our two man tent. It was unusual that I woke as I'm a heavy sleeper and he said to me that he can hear someone slowly creeping up on our tent. I listened and said I couldn't hear anything and it was probably an animal. He lay back down and we were drifting back off to sleep when someone/something called my name in such an eerie voice! It seemed to echo through the mountains (we were in the middle of nowhere) so we quickly got dressed and bolted out of the tent sprinting the 5miles back to the car!

When the first footsteps went by I instantly thought of the colonial days and someone walking a dirt road. The second time I swear I heard wagon wheels rolling by at first with the footsteps then changed like someone following behind the wagon or cart. It’s very interesting. Most likely residual energy of days long ago. Most likely you were camping on a road that connects towns or villages from many years ago. Thank you for sharing. Happy trails & camping to you. Great vid and no shame in packing up, ghost or not. Most people think I talk to think us outdoor folk are bonkers for staying out in the ars end of nowhere for exactly the reasons you experienced. When I'm out fishing past dark and feel unsettled, it's time to know when you're not welcome, pack up and do one, preferably via the pub. Sometimes it just goes like that. The great outdoors can be a daunting place day or night, I guess that's part of it's appeal. Maybe go back with a mate for another trip and see if the same thing happens? That said you'd need a big pair of balls if you did! Keep up the good work fella!

Some years ago I used to fish a rarely visited pond. It was surrounded by higher ground, with only one access path close to where I pitched. On a couple of occasions I heard footsteps coming round the path, which I could see every part of and there was no one on it. I'm familiar with deer, badgers, hares, foxes and the strange sounds they can sometimes make, but this was unmistakably someone walking close by in broad daylight, and completely invisible to me.

Mate, don't worry, I would've started thinking about werewolves & skinwalkers and would've packed up almost immediately! Most people would have left way before you did. I had a frightening experience when working in a country house, while fixing some skirting board I clearly heard an angry growling voice from the hallway area behind me but there was no one there. My heart started pounding, felt really uncomfortable, I just finished what I was doing in minimum time and got out of there. I kept it to myself and tried to forget about it. I tend to think there is a rational explanation for this type of stuff, that we are just tricked by happenstance somehow and then spook ourselves but some things don't have any obvious explanation. At least you clearly caught the strange noises on camera.

I’m definitely a skeptic and it‘s almost definitely a trick of the light but at 18:09 there is what looks to be a person stood looking directly at you, freaked me right out. Especially as they disappear as the camera pans. I don’t normally buy into this stuff but those footsteps and your reaction are undeniable. I work in the trades and you seem like the kind of down to earth, reliable guy I work with on a daily basis so I know something must have been pretty off for you to have that reaction.
