My late father was in the 7th Army that got decimated by the Germans in El Alamein. Those who survived got orders to lay low & do nothing but wait for the 8th army led by Monty to arrive. So they dug in hiding and waited till they got radioed notice "tomorrow morning the 8th is coming in". Sunrise over the sand dunes and then the weirdest thing they ever saw or heard- in the distance the sounds of drums & bagpipes! The Black Watch, The Highlanders marching bands came over the dunes - pipes drums & claymores - the xxxx Krauts didn't know what in blazes was going on, they probably thought that the British had all gone crazy. But while they were confused - Monty's wise strategy hit them as the RAF's Lancasters, Manchesters, Flying Fortresses, bombed them, then waves of Spitfires & Hurricanes strafed them with artillery following up & the 8th army with the fighting will drive from the pipers & drummers hit what was left of the Krauts. The 2nd battle of Al Alamein was won. The power of the Nazi Army in Africa was broken. The pipers & drummers led it all. My father never forgot that. He often would tell of it.

I close my eyes and imagine 1400 pipers marching in front of 50,000 Scotsmen. Claymores flashing in the sun, preparing to kick so serious English ASS! :-D

yes Joe then imagine the English kicking the crap out of the Scotts and their French backstabbing allies, that would be more realistic.

Well during medieval times there was only about 250,000 people living in Scotland. So an army of 50,000 is just a pipe dream.

Goosebumps... always loved the sound of bagpipes since I was a child. Unfortunately never heard it live since I am german. 😉 But planning trip to scotland in 2021. Praying that there will never be a german soldier listening to bagpipes again in battle - unless fighting side by side with you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️Be proud guys, absolutely fantastic cultural asset. If invincibility has a sound it is a thousand pipers playing scotland the brave. Cheers from Buxtehude

It was very early morning in Europe, and the fog had not yet cleared with the sounds of the pipes and drums began to echo off of the hills. And through the mists came The Ladies From Hell. And the hair on the back of your neck rose up.
