Walked the Royal Mile myself from Edinburgh Castle at the top of the hill to Holyrood at the bottom. A highly enjoyable mile walk, must be magnificent to march down it wearing a tartan and playing the bagpipes.

I'm a sassanach, with a Scottish father, who was serving in the HLI in Second World war. Brings a tear to my eye watching this. He's 95 on Saturday, a proud Scot, we love a sing song of Scottish tunes. I sing in a crappy Scottish accent and he plays his harmonica. He loves that song...The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen.....we always greet each other, and he always says....there's no use Greetin'....always makes me smile....

It's been a few centuries since my family were actually Scottish (settled in New Zealand then crossed to Australia) but watching this i can't help but feel the call to return. Though we have been scattered to the corners of the world the sons and daughters of Scotland will always feel that call.

Many recruits from North Staffordshire served during World War II in the Black Watch, I knew a number of them myself, including one whose funeral was in the local paper in Stoke on Trent a few days ago.

There is nothing that comes close to a Scottish Marching band...except the Royal Marines. Both traditions are the best of the best...both make me so proud and both stir in me different emotions. I love the science and precision of the Royal Marines and I love the heart and spectacle of the Scots. All I can say is, fighting together we are goddam awesome, fighting apart we have lost something very special. I'm not a monarchist but I love the UK....

I've loved watching and listening to the Black Watch since I saw them in the U.S. when I was a small child decades ago. It stirs me to my core. My son plans to wear the Campbell Tartan, his mom's family side, when he gets married.

My grandfather was in the Scot’s Guards, I’m looking at a photo of him in uniform as I’m typing this, he was in ww2 North Africa I think, he was a barber on the troop ship and many years later my dad used to take me round to his house for a haircut I was only a little boy then and I didn’t enjoy it !! but now I’m 69 years old and this video sort of brings back memories, you only seem to think like this when you’re older

of all the pipe songs I think this one gets me right in the root of my stomach , and everytime upon hearing it I well up inside and I feel like the most patriotic scotsman alive. I feel like the pipes have some how embedded all the souls Scotland has lost into the sound of the pipes and you feel it deep in yer soul all those generations of scots lost to war. I joined my college pipe band this year, I'm the base drummer. Have to admit it's A LOT of fun, but pipe tunes are kinda hard to march too as they don't have a well defined "down-beat" so everyone relies on me XD

I learned bagpipes at 9 y/o in Anchorage, AK by the Crow Creek Pipes and Drums. During those years I thought Rowdy Roddy Piper was some pickle. Not one time, from 1988 until the Canadian Earthquake squashed the Ultimate Warrior did I ever know a kilted highlander playing Scotland the brave was a wwf wrestler. Never did I know till I was many 24 or 25 years. Lol. Cheers gentleman!

I seem to be always picking on Jim about camera movement, etc. but I have to say this: the cameraman that can maneuver through a crowd, down the street, and not run into a lightpost or a trash bin, deserves every bit of respect that can be offered. Without Jim Ramsay's videos, little of the skill and glory of the UK soldiery would be so readily available to the world. I think the RRS should fund every bit of effort he does! THANKS, JIM.
