A'reyt Bruce. Imagine if this happened. No Braveheart film! I remember as a kid in England, before Braveheart, the "hero" who got his own Ladybird book was Robert the Bruce. Wallace seemed like a stepping stone towards his ascent to power. Wallace seemed like a politician today. When having power, people were more inclined to take notice. Having lost power, his supporters were still loyal, but folk were more concerned with who was in power. Clever to get other folk to do the video for you. A bit like the way Wallace got used by the potential monarchs. Avignon is beautiful by the way. I visited when younger, touring Europe.

I so enjoy these lively debates, Bruce! Fiona Watson and Martain MacGregor can certainly light up the room with their discussions! But I had yet a third idea about his actions at Dundee: what if both scholars were right? What if Wallace did intend to leave at Dundee but never intended to leave the country? It wouldn't be the first time that a fake has been done and if Wallace had learned anything from his dear old friend Andrew Moray, it was that the Scottish nobles would follow the path of least resistance! 'Aye, Wallace left! We chased him out of the country for you! Now, can we have the peace that you promised dear King Edward?' Edward, of course, would have said no, find him! But where to look? Wallace had clearly not given up on Scotland as an independent country but, with Balliol now officially out of the picture, who was he supporting? Or was he going to France to make sure that the French King, the Pope and Balliol himself did indeed support Edward's claim to the Scottish throne? If so, what now? Just another interesting rabbit hole to peruse! Y'all have fun! 😊

I agree with Fiona I think Wallace was trying to leave the country at Dundee, but with the early return from exile of Bishop Wishart he headed for Glasgow, where he got caught just a day's ride from the Cathedral on the road in from the north-east. In my opinion they were expecting him it was a trap. I believe if he didn't get caught he would have hidden amongst the clergy, where many people believe he originally came from. He would have reappeared with the rising of Bruce and fought alongside his brothers. His elder brother may have died at Methven, and his younger brother John was captured a few days later with Simon Fraser. so maybe the same fate would have awaited William.

Not easy for someone like Wallace to fight under a treacherous snake like Bruce...but for the good of the nation he would have...but no doubt, he saw a future king elsewhere...and yes, I have no doubt he was betrayed...he was surrounded by traitors, weaklings and two-faced spineless Sassanech -lickers...only around 300 stayed loyal to him I sense...but still, he fought one...albeit in sml actions...which were an insult to Edward...

It seems to me England was trying to throw off the Norman culture and influence and its stronghold was in Scotland at this time. Historically recorded as Scotland v England but both sides had Scots English as well as many other foreign people fighting for political leaders because they were compelled to, The Bruce(De Bruc) was Norman by culture not Scottish, Labelled Scottish when needing cannon fodder to fight for them. The common man had as much choice as we did going to Iraq. WMD was the lie to justify Iraq , Scotland v England was the medieval equivalent.
@alicemilne1444
@alicemilne1444 8 ай бұрын
The Bruce was 6th-generation Scot by that time and his mother was a Gaelic speaker. He was not of Norman culture. If you look at the Declaration of Arbroath, it is all about Scottish identity, not Norman identity.

@@TheQuietcount So why was Bruce's brother Edward invited into Ireland by one of the O'Neils to stage a pan-Gaelic revolt against the Normans? This was 250 years, near enough, after the Norman conquest. The situation in Scotland had never been the same as in England. Bruce spoke French because it was the lingua franca at the time. He spoke Gaelic and probably Scots too, and would have understood Latin as well.

PART ONE...I am William Wallace...in a former life not so long ago, and I do recall snippets of my past lives...but sadly details are not always forthcoming, although some people have been able to do this. The fact is...as much the past and future proffer wisdom, strength and hope...it is in the present we must live. So back to William, a name that even now alights my spirit, for it truly was my name...including in the life before Wallace, as William Marshal...and before that as El Cid. I do not state this to brag...simply to point out the nature of Wallace ...whose spirit was embodied in these 3 knights, also Hector of Troy, the King of the 300 Spartans, Hannibal...and later, Tecumseh and Crazy Horse. The knightly lives were to imbue and deepen in me the sense of service to the King and the people...for selfless service is everything in spiritual ascent, and vital in high Callings from God...and such desires and longings come out of love for the laws of the Almighty, for the Almighty, and hence are a love of virtues whose energy streams down through creation, and can be experienced by those who draw on them through a certain attitude. I only recall being constantly betrayed in Scotland, whichever way I turned...scabs everywhere (I was in the Miner's Strike) ...and I sense that the visit abroad was part of my desire to fulfil the Will of God, nothing less, nothing more...I was an instrument, and therefore of service to the right man, or King too, willing and happy to lay down my life for the King and the people-as I did in Sparta and Troy. Finding such a person, or people though is not easy, especially as I surrendered myself totally long ago, so I wished the same of my King...that he was a humble servant of God, who served truth, justice and the common people...not just the rich noblemen who generally were 2-faced greedy, ruthless, selfish weaklings. All this I had to experience as part of my general development for a holy task...which befell me in my past life...when the only King who could sate my longing came to the Earth...the embodiment of the Holy Spirit, although on Turtle Island, we knew Him as the Great Spirit. His Mission was not a complete success, thus, I have come one last time to help in the changes that are coming, and they are coming, mark ye well. For the Last Acts of the Final Judgment are almost upon us...and all these are men's karmic retributions...for every passing moment brings u s blessings, or it is a curse upon us. Even passivity cannot pass as doing the right thing.
@nialloneill5097
@nialloneill5097 8 ай бұрын
PART TWO...The laws are strict, and I learned to live strictly within these laws...and this is why I had these prominent lives...so that I could be a humble instrument to the Lord On High. So I would not have been interested in the squabbles of the nobles, only in who had the right to be King; but my heart was with the poor, downtrodden and oppressed too, so I would not flinch in battle...and I do sense I was still waging a war where I could up to my capture...with good men who had genuine faith and big hearts...who put their folk before money and titles. I have faired no better in this life...traitors and cowards, and hypocrites at every turn...seeking to destroy me and my life's work. And this is what I sense lead to my capture...and the movie is closer to the truth than many imagine, for even in the face of the cruelest of deaths, I was true to truth...and would not lay down my sword for and to the Sassanechs, as I so fondly recall them-NOT. Before I was told of this life, many times I struggled to try and keep my body from being torn apart...for that death was indellibly marked upon my soul, and it is something I shall never forget. Therefore, yes Wallace was noble, for nobility of character and a strong sense of honour and chivalry stem from spiritual wisdom and maturity...they are an expression of the inner beauty of a person. This is what we are here for...to think and act out of love...thereby connecting to the Ray of |Love from On High...then to do the right thing in our daily lives...where the smallest tasks are the most important, for I have never had thoughts of grandeur, I simply am these persons...and as a reward for my undying loyalty...for they can take away my body, but not my thoughts and spirit...I shall help a new King soon...who will lead men out of the destruction and chaos of the Apcocalypse...into a New kingdom of God. The film Kingdom of Heaven is a fine film, and I have written to a few directors...for I have been informed by spiritual guidance to write of some of my lives, and link them to spiritual happenings...to aid my fellow man at the last moment...into the recognition of these laws of creation...and a new epoch amidst the resurrection of some of humanity...not all, for the majority have sunk too low, just like those Scottish nobles who preferred an easy, affluent life. Thus, when we truly fight for a worthy cause, think nor dwell not upon your imminent death...but the longer term goal...eternal bliss...for you, and all others. So serve ye well sire, and watch out for books and films from the...White Knight...which is my official spiritual title, one given me many thousands of yrs ago.
@nialloneill5097
@nialloneill5097 8 ай бұрын
PART THREE...importantly, know we are spirit inside...and our conscience and intuition should be our guides to a better life...as well as the sense of beauty-which can come through compassion for others, helping thy neighbours, selfless serving, good manners, listening to others, manifesting genuine beauty in everything you do and wear... being truthful to a fault...not being subservient to dark forces at work that seek to suffocate the life out of people in so many ways. I am not offended if you do not believe who I am...I seek not adherents in any way, but the video came up and I felt a need to speak...so again, do not look for icons, but do look for good ways of living, and integrate them into your way of life, although we are all unique, but everyone, no matter how small, has something to proffer the whole that is as worthy as all other's service...so long as it is directed towards the Light. So seek out the light daily and hourly now...for there is little time left todo what we have to do...and soon, in 15 yrs, nothing of what you see will exist...for almost the entire humanity is to be erased from the earth very soon. I forecast the Russian invasion of Ukraine to the exact week, and I have seen visions of what is coming-WW3 and nuclear holocausts...and Sept/Oct 2028...and the Spring of 2033 are big yrs...for all hell will break out then. Perhaps, I shall send a message nearer the time...for I am to be given some tasks in 2028...so keep your eyes glued for any warnings...but above all else...each must now purify one's spirit...and make room for the Ray of Love...with which guidance can come to all people...and in the New Kingdom, men will form a brotherhood first of all...with the countless nature spirits who have tried to maintain the earth and its ecology, despite men's compulsive destructive habits...all the very best...now to see the other video...
@nialloneill5097
@nialloneill5097 8 ай бұрын
PART FOUR...and know that through good deeds, a part of humanity can find Salvation...and enter the New Kingdom, when they will be permitted further incarnations, whereby they can complete the university of life...and then one day, as mature spirits, return to higher planes...where Paradise lies, and eternal life and blessings await those human spirits who have been successful, although all should have been...but still almost 20% can make it...if they heed the words of the Lord jesus...'love thy neighbour as thyself'. Bon Voyage!

Once I change the speed and listen to him a while at the slower speed I could then finally begin to understand him. Now I don't change the speed at all. If interested in doing the same look in the top right or perhaps Center of your computer or video screen look for the little a gear wheel. The drop-down choices under this particular little icon gives you choices of speeds to change the video from you can either Slow it down, or speed it up. Hope this helps.

If Wallace had not been a martyr, Mel Gibson would be an unknown, out of work actor.

And these historians would be out of work too...unable to make money out of him through their books, 'insights' and public performances...aahhh, thanks a lot Mr Wallace for what you went rhough...to provide jobs in a land where there would otherwise have been little opportunity for actors and historians...and maybe kings for that matter...

But I did watch vid yesterday. I had to sit on the question, if Wallce would have left Scotland. My American ears couldn't clearly hear if Wallce was carring his honorers or not. I think I know my English History enough to know English wouldn't give a bloody.... about any Scottish man n his Trinkets!!! He was Not suicidal He being as a living hero. So Im going with Fiona I beleive he was planning to skip out of Scotland. Humans carry their things when Leaving!!! Unless weirdly he knew he would be honored to help free Scotland . That boy was about to sail!!! I wish all the freedom for all in the lands of Fairies Myths n Lores. Scotland comes with lots of Lores , Scientist and Writers!!! In my eyes It was science that helped me see the magic of everyday nature, why I am pagan. And many O stories I grew up with I found are from Scotland!! Peace be with you my friend I did giggle a lot. Very lovely!! very warm hugs to you n crew!!

Hi Bruce , Mate great video and chanel So we know he was captured and buy who But whats the back story to how he was captured Was it scottish nobles luring him under a pledge of support ? As Fiona had said that longshanks put it to the scotish nobles and the Bruce to hunt him down , is there evidence to support this ? How did they know where he was ?

If Edward I hadn't captured and killed him, the Scottish nobles would have. On their own initiative, I mean. Not at the Plantagenet's instance.

If Bruce and Wallace would have teamed up it would have been a family reunion for me. I am a direct descendant of Robert Bruce, who was my grandfather [ 14th generation ], and Wallace was an uncle through his brother John.

I don't know that Wallace carrying his documents with him is indicative of much apart from where else could he leave them. Leave them with somebody and we all know everyman has his price. Hide them somewhere and he may not be able to get back in an emergency. If an opportunity to get on a ship occurs then there's no delay, no I've just got to nip to Lachie's for my stuff. If he gets captured they are of no further use to him.

Not sure why Fiona Watson has always had a negative viewpoint of Wallace. Its like she thinks he was nothing other than a troublesome problem, when in reality he was more concerned with Scottish freedom than himself.
